So remember how in the past we'd have those moments when we outplayed a team, and established what seemed like a good lead? And then inexplicably lost that lead towards the end of the game for no apparent reason, having to go to OT? And then having to sit back and watch as the other team just out of nowhere has some miracle play that ends it with an OTL for us before the OT period really even got started?

We're doing that to other teams now. :D

Elvis was describing why he had been playing better, and among many other things he mentioned something like "now that the goalies are getting their proper rest". This seems to be his preference.
It's certainly a lot for a goalie who expends a lot of energy in a game to ask a guy to play 12 out of 13 games like the CBJ did earlier this season. It depends on the team but this team and its defensive weaknesses requires a goalie to face a lot of shots right now.

I think we are 11th in avg shots allowed per game (29.1) which isn't horrendous but also not ideal. Carolina is the league best 24.9. We also face a lot of teams that want to play fast paced. I think the CBJ also ideally wants to be faster paced as well. Keeping that mental focus and energy in a game like that across almost 3 hours does have to be draining.

This has been a very poor game for Voronkov

Was thinking the same. He’s struggled in a way we don’t often see.

We have had two coaches complain about his stamina. His game completely dropped off the last few months of last season. We played a back to back. You wonder if maybe we need to start resting the big guy occasionally. He might be the Jacket who will benefit from the 4 Nations Cup break the most.

rimer’s call would’ve been like

“a 2-0!!! Keller and Severson!! excuse me, werenski and sillinger!! Severson passes it to Sillinger! sillinger back to severson! severson back to sillinger!! utah wins it!!!!”

You forgot to add the “And Utah proves the 2 goal lead is the hardest lead to hold in hockey.”

I honestly went to bed after Utah scored their 2nd goal. I was already tired from watching the game the previous night and thought Utah looked a step ahead. Imagine my surprise this morning.

He prefers to play in the offensive zone (like with Monahan) and not rush up and down (like with Fantilli).

Or he is not good on the 2nd game of back to backs. Obviously the team has been generally bad on the 2nd game of back to backs this season, so I don’t know how much better or worse Voronkov is than everyone else. There is also the chicken and egg issue, is Voronkov bad because the team is bad or is the team bad because Voronkov is bad. Anyway, here are the stats:

11/2 0g 0a -2
11/10 0g 0a -2
11/16 0g 0a +0
12/6 0g 0a -1
12/15 1g 0a +1
12/28 0g 0a -1
1/23 1g 0a -1
1/31 0g 0a +0

Voronkov, 2nd game of a back to back: 8 games 2g 0a -6

Voronkov, rest of the season: 35 games 16g 15a +21

Just wanted to add hats off to those of you on this forum who attended both of these games. What a good trip it must have been. So @Cyclones Rock, @Nanabijou, I know you folks were there. Others?
I have been taking annual January trips to Vegas for a while. It's cheaper and it's not so crowded. I also love the desert and taking long drives and doing some very short hiking in it. The weather is much more hospitable in January than it is in July. Just worked out that the CBJ were playing these two games. I don't need any extra encouragement to come out to vegas. LOL

I will add that the drive from Vegas to salt lake City is quite spectacular-especially when you're cutting through the mountains in Arizona.

There were quite a few CBJ fans at the game in utah. I saw a couple of groups which appeared to be in the 15 to 20 range.

It's less crowded in January? Do people prefer to go in the months where you might accidentally melt to death on the blacktop?
