Emily Kaplan is saying she wouldn't be surprised if we land Guentzel. I still don't see it. But she also says Zito is trying not to go crazy on spending. Sounds like nobody wants to pay the price for Guentzel.

I’ve made my position clear: ERod should have scored a couple/few more. Because of that, I don’t think he should be in Barky’s line. But because of that, it has had reverberations for the whole lineup. Maurice has made those changes, so apparently he’s also noticing something, and it isn’t ERod’e lack of defense or forecheck.

I keep seeing people bring up his caphit of 3 mil so comparing it to Verhaeghe's 4 mil is more what I meant.
10pts per million is decent value so add everything up and he's likely slotted where he should be, on the 3rd line.

Rod isn't scoring but at least he's sound defensively and still pacing 45ish pts so I think he's earning his deal so far.

In saying this, I don't like that 4th year of the contract and wouldn't be opposed to moving him [in offseason] if possible to save cap to re-sign more important UFAs if need be

I read Guentzel's lastest comments about being traded and would prefer to not spend the cost to acquire him.

I think Zito may stay with the team he has right now. Getting someone that fits your team's playing style isn't that easy.

For the Panthers, an offensive player has to learn to play solid defense and cover for the dmen who jump up into the play. If a defenseman, they need to learn that it's okay to jump up into the play as the forwards will cover for you.

There's only a 20 or so game learning curve for someone to learn Maurice's system. Team stood with the team they had last year, showing them they were confident in what they had.

Yeah, I want (realistically)Eberle or Mantha. But probably, we just pick up a depth forward like Kunin or Trenin. Then add more depth on d, and we still probably have the best team in the East.

I think if they can add one top six winger this team would be balls out. Whether it's Guenzel or Eberle or whoever I have no idea who would be the perfect fit, that's their job to figure out. Someone that can elevate that third line, having three lines that can score would be the final piece to this puzzle IMO.

Championship teams have deep teams. Look at someone like Blake Coleman who played on the third line in Tampa when they won a cup.

Maybe he waits on the prices for Tarasenko, Zucker and Mantha to drop ! Too many sellers, and not a lot of buyers this year... Probably good for our business, and Zito should be going the patient-route...

When he acquires one of those guys for a 3rd and mid-level prospect, we will all be ecstatic with the add !

I don't think Zito is willing to trade Samo + 1st for a guy like Coleman regardless if he's viewed as a top6er or a top9er. Maybe a 3rd/Nause for Trenin who's a goal scoring scumbag.

I'm not sure what was Zito's role in it because Chuck was still Flames' property at that time. Chuck would've gotten at least $11mil per in the open market but imo he accepted 9.5 just to let everyone know that the Panthers is still Barkov's team.

I know Kuznetsov has been terrible, but maybe a good idea to look at picking him up on waivers? He did score almost 80 points two seasons ago.

EDIT: nvm just saw his cap hit. Will be a good pickup for a cap floor team tho.
