It does carry risk, but if I'm Chayka, it's a risk I'm willing to take. His overall recent body of work in the NHL regular season and the playoffs the last few years suggest that he is not done yet. Last season for Florida was pretty much a write off.So is giving good money to a 38 year old coming off a .870sv season. How is that less risky?
I just heard CJ say that the Knies trade talks are still very much open. He suggested something like Mctavish. It wouldn't be straight up obviously since his value is lower at this point.
Would Rielly and Knies for OZ and MM work?
Would also signing Tuch make it more palatable?
"New leaf Motto" lol,..."If You Plan On Planning,.. Please Plan The Plans At The Planning Table"Just like the JT signing, when you're courting players to come to your team, there's always some form of plan. I am sure they presented him with a few different things they are planning, and he's choosing to believe they will get that done. He's also aware the Leafs will have McKenna by the end of the week.

And fall further back because they will get late 1sts and junk.We get players and things back, right?
Look what Brady returned and multiply by two.Count me as one of those
Tell me what you'd think would make sense?
Genuinely curious
If you think that’s all a Captain America trade would return that’s on you, the rest of us know it’d be a ton more. Not this off season after the last 2 seasons he just had. He returns something like what Brady returned and sorry that's not good enough.
Just for some laughs (Chayka, plz don't)
Trent Frederic?Who the hell is tfreddy
Also I heard Friedman was on radio talking up the significance of the week we might have, is that real?
Hellebuyck will want to be on a American team full stop.If Chaka Con is still listening to Knies trades and considering shoring the net with Bobo,...I feel they should target Hellebuyck 1st and work their way down from that point.
Ya... interesting enough.. the cap hit on Frederic and Stolarz are almost a wash.....
McDavid better hope the bottom 6 guys are gud pros and don't get discouraged by Babcock and tank his efforts.McDavid will love playing for Babs. He is great to guys like him. It’s guys farther down the lineup he will torture.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Kappanen had let it be known he is going to free agency. He played for Babcock in the bottom 6 in Toronto and has an idea what he would be in for.
The term most certainly is not a wash.
I'm started to get a little scared here lol... First Nurse, now Frederic...
We also won’t have a GM that will be just twiddling his thumbs hoping for somethingSo what though? If that happens, and we pick up valuable players, we can just move them out for futures.
So picks. We get picks back and then what? Give up top 5s in b2b years?Look what Brady returned and multiply by two.
Sometimes you have to wonder how motivated some players are after they get their big money.Frederic was a pretty quality third liner with Boston. Edmonton doesn't play their bottom six enough, and they all seem to end up losing their offensive touch. Frederic plays RW primarily, has size, plays hard and physical, good speed, and put up 30 and 41 points with Boston. That's the type of reclamation project that we will be looking at. I don't know if there is more to the story that prevents a bounce back, but I always look at Edmonton's depth, and blame the team more than the players.

Hypothetically, sure. Realistically, he's more like a guy you have sometimes in the press box, sometimes on the 4th line, or sometimes hoping someone does you a favour and picks him up on waivers.Frederic could hypothetically be like a Hyman type for one of the top lines, likely 34's.

The swap out would be Stolarz, if we were set on signing Bob. Almost same cap hit.Left handed winger that can play the right. He's been awful way before he got to Edmonton. He doesn't kill penalties. And signed until 2033. He's decently young sure, and he's physical.
I'm all for a buy low guy, but for our needs the risk to take on a guy signed forever is hardly buying low to solidify a need. I don't get any sort of upside here even if he's given up for free. He might be buyout material in the near future.
