I kinda find it funny that Chris Johnston just can't believe Toronto has a package Columbus would want

The truth is not many teams have a player like Knies who checks so many boxes.

Young, big, productive, lots of remaining upside, leadership qualities, American (who the US teams will love).

family matters to players.

When you have a chance to choose where to live and make a living you take advantage of it.
Absolutely. Family is the most important thing. That’s what made me wonder why he turned down Dallas, yet has TB on his list, when apparently his family is from Detroit.

It's just funny. Don't get me wrong Moser is good but yeah Chris, Columbus would have no interest in a 23 year old who is built like a football player who has 70+ point potential and is locked up for a while

I was just reading the Dallas's board reaction to the rejected trade and one guy said the Leafs have nothing the Bluejackets would want.

East coast thing? and he knows players on those teams? Not sure but he and his family must have agreed to those 2 teams

I also assume if the deal is done an extension will happen when the time comes. Must be some kind of handshake agreement

Issue with this is that the Leafs end up paying both teams '+' and it could end up being more.

Dallas will want more than just Knies for Harley, and Colombus will want more than Harley for Werenski.

If Dallas is fine getting the Colorado 1st and CLB is fine with something like Danford and a 2nd, sure.

If you have the chance to go trade for a Norris trophy winner....you go get that shit done. I love Knies but he is a hell of a lot easier to find a replacement for compared to a top 3 defensemen in the entire world lol

Yeah, I agree.

I would hate to lose Knies. He brings different elements than guys like Nylander and McKenna. I also think he can be a dominant PF (maybe similar to peak Lucic).

But how often do you have a chance to get a Norris trophy winner in his prime?

And despite what people may say, they can definitely get a deal for Werenski done if they really want to. They have the COL first, they have Danford, they have AA, they can trade picks years away if they really need to. They can get it done. But as much as I'd love to have Werenski, I don't want them to do something totally absurd (like Knies + Danford + AA + COL's first + more).

Based on three options that would tell me Tampa is likely the preferred destination, especially the wife’s.

Saw this somewhere, seems like a good basis to a fair deal for everyone

TOR Werenski
DAL Knies
CLS Harley

I guess my problem with this logic is I don't see why Dallas would part with Harley except for Werenski.

It made sense to be after Knies as a cheaper Robertson replacement but I don't think you move Harley like that.... Upgrades on Thomas Harley are hard to find.

HF is not a great place to gauge potential trades. Take a peek at the Colombus board. Knies is apparently a scrub.

I can guarantee you that if Toronto does acquire Werenski today, you're going to be reading later today that TOR just gave up a unicorn and other good assets for a two-year wonder who's a prima donna and will leave in 2028 anyway and that they somehow made their team worse today and for the future... lol.
