HF posters really need to stop evaluating players based just on points. Hischier is an all-situations center who takes every important faceoff for the Devils. He plays against other teams' top line. He led the league in faceoffs taken last year by almost 300 of them.

Power play, penalty kill, overtime. He literally does it all, and does it all really well.

This is underselling it a bit. Hischier won over 1000 faceoffs last year and had 169 more FO wins than the next closest center.

He’ll be 33 when this deal is up and his game seems like it’ll age like fine wine. He should be able to cash in on one last big contract.

They have 3 until Jack’s contract expires giving Sunny 1-2 years (imo) to prove to these guys he can build a winning culture. Personally I think they’ll be back in the playoffs next season.

70-80P player (as a 2C no less) AND a top Selke candidate year after year

he couldve signed for $14M x7 as a UFA

I think it makes sense for him.... if the Devils arent contenders by then, he can still sign elsewhere while still being a very sought after productive UFA.

Cap may be over $155M in 2032! He could easily sign for another 5 years at god knows how much.
