GDT: Trade and Free agent Rumours thread | Chayka off-season edition

Isn't he an LW who is still riding his draft position while putting up terrible numbers?

I don't watch any Calgary, cause why would anyone? But, from anything I've seen, he isn't exactly an ideal target.

Would be curious to hear from people who actually watch.

Also, has knee problems?

Zary seems identical to Robertson IMO

Admittedly thought he was a center but it does sound like he's been a winger with the Flames. He hasn't taken that many draws.

I've also seen knee injuries as a concern... I'm just curious how he actually looks.

I think he is being propped up by his draft position still, but maybe there is some untapped potential they could look into if they don't have concerns with injuries.

He does produce worse than him, with more opportunity.

I'd rather just give Robertson more of a chance.

Yeah definitely lost all appetite there. Don't need another average sized left winger

The back half of that Tuch deal could get ugly

Would have been a really nice get but we’ve seen the folly of putting big money in the wings

Need defense and another centre

That deal is going to look bad after the 2nd year, IMO.

He looked slow towards the back half of the 1st round and into the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Was playing some good hockey with Kadri before he suffered a pretty gruesome knee injury. Came back from it this year and seemed to be behind the play a lot of the time. Very similar player to Holloway if you want a comparision.

Dallas, having three other good LDs, is the basis of the deal. But in reality, does that get them to move their 2nd-best one?

It would be really nice for the Leafs end of things and is fun to speculate on, but I'm not sure how real it is.

So, which group D in the league do we deem acceptable in a Knies trade?

For me, he's one of a select few I would accept.

If Hellebyuk goes to Fla, it will be laughable. Just hand the cup to Fla at that point. Then replay on loop Marchand saying low tax states have a distinct advantage and they wouldve lost two players last year without the advantage.

They will still lose because that roster is geriatric. Outside of Barkov are any of them still in their prime? Not a chance either Tkachuk plays a full 82 any more. They play too reckless and are guaranteed to get hurt.

Helleybuck isn’t exactly the best playoff goalie either. I think Florida will be a victim of adding way too much to a mix that already works

Rielly for a retained Pettersson please. Granted, Vancouver sucks and doesn’t give him a shot at winning, but maybe 2/3 of a year playing on the top PP and stapled beside Hronek on his hometown team will increase his value enough that the Canucks can flip him for futures at the TDL.
