GDT: Trade and Free agent Rumours thread | Chayka off-season edition

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I don’t even fully trust Chris Johnston, Dreger, Seravalli, or LeBrun to know what’s really going on with the Leafs. I sure as hell don’t trust Marco Boy to know anything.

east is too much of an arms race atm, montreal still gonna do stuff, probably TB. we need to sell high on our guys and rebuild imo. this team needs so much to actually be a contender.
I think Tampa's best case is Larkin.

Ok so the team as of now is

McKenna. Matthews. Nylander
Macelli. Tavares Knies
Robertson. Demi. Cowan
Joshua. Quillan. Lorentz

McCabe. Tanev
Oel. Raddysh
Rielly. Carlo
Andre

Stolarz
Beast.

Ummmm do we suck?
Relax. There will be a lot of changes coming, including Bob in net.

It would be hilarious if Knies is being so heavily focused on because he’s supposedly the one getting traded, only for Chayka to come out of absolutely nowhere with a move nobody expected.

in reality even with more changes i dont forsee this team being as good as many in the east, i dont see the point of just trying to make the playoffs if we dont have a legit shot at wiinning. just me though. ive seen this group for 10 years..and now the east is deeper and better than before.

Well how about Colorado again this year? Everyone was ready to hand them the cup before the playoffs. They got swept
Yes because they are a well built team without an advantage....mackinnon outright said he was taking less money to be successful and signed a 12.6 mill x 8 year deal. They got rid of Rantanen because he wanted too much money. Rantanen signed in low tax state... Dallas. Mcdavid took less too, in order to be successful in a high tax province.

Its not fair to players or the fans that this advantage exists. Owners either but the game growing in america helps increaee their value.

If you were McDavid would you be happy taking 5 million less per year in order to try and compete with low tax states...because your desperate to win championships? And your legacy will be affected by it?

Who wouldnt want to play in Fla or Vegas? Maximize pay, dont need to deal with medias constant negative questions about winning, play on stacked teams that will boost your career offensive numbers and mody importantly challenge for a few cups! And live in better climates and cities!

Knies is a good as gone.
If he is, it better be for a franchise altering return based on everything we've seen in the last 24 hours.

I'm not convinced Knies is definitely being traded because Chayka's asking price has to be ludicrous at this point.

sure,
Matthews to Dallas for Wyatt Johnston and Heiskanen
