Not saying we should trade Knies for him, but people are really underselling Nikishin's value.

Look at what Nemec and Byram got. Nikishin's value is probably in between them, and I'd say closer to Byram personally.

don't think anyone's undervaluing him, most just seem to agree his value needs more coming to land Knies. Just like Byram, and definitely like Nemec.

I don’t really see the Nikishin fit with Raddysh signed for 8 years. The main appeal with Nikishin is the shot, the rest of his game is pretty average.

Sorry can you rephrase that? I'm not understanding.
Sure, you can take a few approaches, but the simplest would be: if you're Dallas (Nill), do you view Harley and Knies as equal-value players/assets?

The other way would be if you were Toronto with Harley (hypothetically), would you trade him for a winger in Knies?

Things need to be added in both cases, if the deal is available at all.

So, with Nikishin (or a defenceman similar to him), being a more important position, some kind of compromise is likely needed, in the form of taking a player who might not be as established as one would hope.

That was the main point I was asking the poster about.

Crazy market right now and it's entirely possible that all three will have been traded for just a bit too much.

That's pretty tough.

Their LD is fairly loaded, Harley is a big ticket who might not get full value on your roster because of how much Heiskanen touches everything.

They also don't have much for scoring wingers in the top 6 beyond Robertson and Rantanen.

If the Jets are dealing Hellybuyck, I'm asking them about Morrissey since he clearly wouldn't fit whatever timeline they are transitioning to

I'll do a deal around Knies for Morrissey
Morrissey is 31 and a UFA in 2 seasons. I would want a pretty substantial + which I doubt the Jets do.

Dallas, having three other good LDs, is the basis of the deal. But in reality, does that get them to move their 2nd-best one?

It would be really nice for the Leafs end of things and is fun to speculate on, but I'm not sure how real it is.

So, which group D in the league do we deem acceptable in a Knies trade?

That's better stats than Knies... and Marner was a driver on his line.
You mean he was an anchor for his line standing on the blueline. There is a reason why his stats in games 5,6,7 were by far the worst among the core 4. If your a driver that wouldnt have been the case...driving the line but collecting any points? Lol

Not sure I'd pay a 2nd to get him but a decent center option. Some great AHL production that could be interesting.

Isn't he an LW who is still riding his draft position while putting up terrible numbers?

I don't watch any Calgary, cause why would anyone? But, from anything I've seen, he isn't exactly an ideal target.

Would be curious to hear from people who actually watch.

Also, has knee problems?

Admittedly thought he was a center but it does sound like he's been a winger with the Flames. He hasn't taken that many draws with the Flames.
