Sounds like Tuch to the Caps is getting close to done.

Curious as to what they do with Leonard now. Tuch, Wilson, and Kyrou are all true RW's. Leonard put up 20 goals and 45 points last season for the caps.

yea they still have the 18th and prospects like Lakovic, Parascak, Cristall who are solid

Yeah they are solid but the lack of a true number C is very evident here.

if they could pull off a deal for larkin, hischier or go big with Matthews (if things go wrong here), they could have a great team.

Move someone to LW? Trade Leanord (or someone else)? Have the most insane RW depth?

I'm going to guess they'd just move someone to LW... has anyone really struggled switching sides? Would someone like Wilson be that much less effective on LW?

Really? What is success? Losing to a lot of the same teams the Canes lost too is a failure because they lost in 1st rd while Canes lost to same team in conference finals.

We have been waiting since 67. Did we scream to trade Sittler and Salming? Gilly and Clark. etc ?

Why can't we enjoy our star players ? Instead we make the Domi and Tuckers our icons and they also won crap.

How about we build a team with depth , a better bottom six, Some D that can make an outlet pass . Maybe a goalie that steals a playoff game .

You know like the Canes did and notice the habs had bottom six players come thru and have their goalie steal games

Nikishin is gonna be coming with a massive + if Knies is going back

He's a solid player, but he's also turning 25 soon and played 18 minutes a night and was pretty terrible in the playoffs (could've been hurt tho from the hit he took earlier against the flyers I think)

He's gonna get better, but I am skeptical of the people who say he has #1 defencemen written all over him....

I don't think it is a massive +, I think Knies does likely hold more value, but I think this is a difficult trade because Nikishin has been slightly underwhelming in my opinion.

As with Raddysh, people have been over-inflating UFA numbers all along. I figured Tuch would be betwen $10 and $11, and Raddysh between $8 and $9. These middle-tier guys aren't going to get first line money. The big money will come when guys like Makar and Hughes sign new contracts.

Not sure how keen I am on Tuch. Imagine he will command around 9-10M (or more if it's a 7 yr deal), he's also 30 and his numbers aren't 'eye popping' by any stretch. He'll get you 30 goals and can play with some jam but not sure how he will age.

A 23 year old who is almost 24 with a career high of 66 points that produces at a 40 point pace in the playoffs, but he is relatively large and strong.

I'm interested in Marchment and would take a flyer on Mantha if he's not expensive but yeah I'm not big on the remaining UFA options. That being said, it's up to the pro scouting and Chayka to find some diamonds in the rough / reclamation projects as well like recent successful teams have done (e.g. Florida).

I was thinking Nadeau/Unger Sorum + 1st would be the minimum I would need to bridge that

Svech seems like it's too much as he had a 70 point year at 25 years old

Ideally I would like to trade for Nikishin without using knies, but I don't see how we could get it done otherwise. Maybe Cowan + Col 1st? Add in Carlo if need be. Cowan seems like a player that would fit into their system very well

They have Kyrou, Wilson, Leonard, Frank as RW options, and a bunch of other right handed options. Ovechkin plays left but is right handed, presume he signs a deal at some point.

Obviously they can make other trades and all that, but right now the fit seems weird.
