GDT: Trade and Free agent Rumours thread | Chayka off-season edition

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

Caps the favourite, get in there Chayka. We're all going to die soon anyways and we need a right hand shot

Capitals aren't messing around. I feel like getting Kyrou removes a big need there no?

They have Kyrou, Wilson, Leonard, Frank as RW options, and a bunch of other right handed options. Ovechkin plays left but is right handed, presume he signs a deal at some point.

Obviously they can make other trades and all that, but right now the fit seems weird.

Interesting, thanks.

It feels like we can have him and McMann cap wise if we wanted to. Not saying of course they’d sign here necessarily.
He's a guy who grew up a Sabres fan, in Syracuse. He's going to get overpaid for what he brings to the table... I'd consider Raddysh a market contract... Tuch is asking for $10.5... which is more than you'd want to pay a 30 year old 60ish point forward. Being close to home, "might" have value.

But, after we took Raddysh off the board, he's the top point getting UFA left. He's got size, Right handedness, decent defensively, somewhat physical, but maybe not power forward type physical. He'll fight, but he's not good at it. He's got elite speed... which is something we are looking to add.

Given our needs, and him being the best available at that... screw it... pay the man, it's not like we can find a better option in free agency, and not a penny of it comes from my pocket.

There will be red flags with every player... he sucked in round 2 of the playoffs this year...

Again... best free agent available, so damn the rest of the challenges around it.. especially seeing as it looks like we will have a ton of cap room. Better yet... send Sabres a 4th.. or Robertson, or Maccelli.. and get the deal done now. Make a real statement...
Alex Tuch is going to free agency.

Jarmo Kekalainen just had a press conference in Buffalo talking about the Byram trade and he said "I think (Alex Tuch) is moving on and heading to free agency"

Yeah it's very bizarre.

I can see the Kraken going big here. They need a big win. But the Hawks and Leafs apparently are in on this in some form or another.
Another one about to be off the list prior to, and for, July 1st.

Just goes back to my statement about the Leafs, if you want someone make it happen instead of just "kicking tires" or "planning something big".

That's going to be two players Washington has targetted and gone out and gotten them.

I'm a little greedy in that I want Tuch so we can have a power forward for each of our top 2 lines.
Ideally Tuch and a pass-first C and a pass-first-RW and you have three extremely balanced lines with a bit of everything:

McKenna-Matthews-Tuch
Knies-McLeod type??-Nylander
Cowan-Tavares-Terry type??

Not sure how keen I am on Tuch. Imagine he will command around 9-10M (or more if it's a 7 yr deal), he's also 30 and his numbers aren't 'eye popping' by any stretch. He'll get you 30 goals and can play with some jam but not sure how he will age.

Rielly Submits List of 4 Teams, Leafs Shopping Carlo ft. Jeff Marek

The Leafs Nation

Streamed live 2 hours ago

Nick Alberga & David Pagnotta react to a busy Tuesday around the NHL as trade chatter ramps up ahead of Friday's NHL Draft.

What exactly are John Chayka & the Maple Leafs up to? The boys sift through the latest rumours and speculation surrounding Toronto, including reports that the Leafs are shopping Brandon Carlo. Plus, according to Darren Dreger, Morgan Rielly's camp has submitted a list of four Western based teams that he would be willing to waive his no-movement clause for.

With the rumour mill in overdrive, the boys debate what it all means, what Toronto's next move could be, and how active the Leafs might get over the next few days.

Additionally, The Sheet's Jeff Marek drops by to preview the NHL Draft, discuss Gavin McKenna, and weigh in on what he thinks Chayka and company could have up their sleeve as a pivotal week for the organization continues.

I could see them going hard after a Parayko type trade. They have the assets to pull it off.

I have a feeling Ovi is back (unless I missed something).
