I imagine if we're dealing Dermott we're looking for a B calibre centre prospect, maybe a guy like Jack McBain

Alex Kerfoot, Nick Robertson & 2nd
for
Alex Tuch

Upgrade 2nd to 1st (top 10 protected) if they retain $1,000,000

Tuch - Matthews - Nylander
Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Engvall - - Kampf - - Kase
Ritchie - Spezza - Simmonds

Pretty solid deal for Vegas, assuming surgery and rehab go well for Eichel. Tuch is a good 2nd line winger and Krebs is an NHLer but we'll see if he can develop into a star.

I wonder what role Calgary played. If Buffalo was using them to drive up the asking price, then not sure if it really worked lol. Either way, glad Eichel didn't go to Calgary

What do we need to add to Dermott to get D. Strome? I'm not sold on Kampf as our 3rd line C.

D. Strome is incredibly inconsistent and pretty much the opposite of Kampf. All offence and bad defensively. He'd probably be a LW here.

We can't afford Dermott for Strome unless they retain 50%.

Sounds like the Leafs are getting active. Weird that Kyper is getting a lot of inside info though... probably throwing some mud at the wall.

Nothing? I dont think Strome is a good target.... especially not as a C.

As for Kampf, the Engvall - Kampf - Kase line is a net neutral GF/GA, 61% SF%, 58.9 CF% with >80 dZS%

Basically, getting some of the toughest defensive assignments in the league and completely shutting down defensively, dominating possession and getting more offensive opportunities than the opposition.

It looks to me as though they are going to have to find a way to move Stone for certain, and then one other player. It’s going to be interesting, and with that $10 mil cap hit for a 60 point player, moving Stone might not be easy.
Hopefully they move Pacioretty as well.

Why are they recalling a player to sit in the press box?
Security in case anything happens between now and game time/gives Rubins a chance to practice with the Leafs and collect NHL pay.

The latter is something this team has been doing for a couple of years: checking in with the young kids and giving them a one or two day cup of coffee and paycheck. This was probably precipitated more by Dermott being dtd, but it fits the MO, too

Fair enough. I guess I still see Strome as someone who can figure out the defensive side of things (although his slow skating remains an issue).

3 teams that look like they could use Dermott are NYI, WSH, STL.

If the Leafs are looking for a young prospect they could look at Bellows, Leason, Alexandronov.

Stone makes 9.5m, and he is not a "60 point player". He could easily be moved, but adding Eichel just to lose Stone doesn't make much sense.

The Kings lost a couple D to season long injuries. I'd put them on the list.
