He will play, his injury isn't that severe. I think the bigger question mark is how good will he play.

He will very likely play, but not guaranteed. As you said, though, even if he does come back, he may not be the same player. How much do you pay to acquire that?

Maybe so, but for a guy that's got the franchise tag from his draft days but has never really been more than elite, is forcing his way out of town, and is a medical risk to never play again, never be the same...

solid haul. The 2nd/3rd swap is really the big blemish on it, should have had a 4th solid piece.

But Krebs+Tuch+1st is a damn valuable package.

He'll play... but of course the quality is a question mark. It usually is with long-term injuries.

I'm not sold on Krebs very much. Tuch is a solid player locked up. The 1st is protected and probably will be a good prospect.

It's underwhelming and Vegas took full advantage, but Buffalo had no choice to move him... they waited far too long already.

Lost in all of this is that Dermott is on the trading block (as per Friedman).

Edit: sorry, I missed the post saying the same thing on the previous page

Has it been confirmed to be Dermott? Couldn’t it be Holl?

Was this trade really held up arguing about swapping 3rd round picks in 2023, and did that swap really balance this out?

I think the difference is Krebs. Blue chip piece IMO. If you look at the history of high end young players being moved (Nash/Carter/Richards/Thornton/Seguin) this is argubably the best "Day of trade" return- or close, from the near the least advantageous circumstances

That's fair. Blue chip seems really pushing it to me but maybe you're right. Watched him a few times this season and was not impressed. Might be unfair though since he's only 20 years old.

The return sucked for Buffalo but I don't blame them. It's not the worst ever. They have solid pieces with it and 1 piece with high potential. It's not the end of the world despite my opinion that the return wasn't very good for them.

Lost in all of this, the Knights will pay 12 players 79M. The cap will be 82.5M (probably). That is pretty insane. They are going to have a busy off-season.

It looks to me as though they are going to have to find a way to move Stone for certain, and then one other player. It’s going to be interesting, and with that $10 mil cap hit for a 60 point player, moving Stone might not be easy.

I get Schenn/Reinhart vibes of a guy that's going to underwhelm initially and never be the flashiest, but will settle in as a solid 1st line player.

They have 10M of cap used between Marchesseault and Dadonov (I have no idea why they picked him up). I'm almost certain they are leaving before Stone.

Nevermind the offseason, how are they going to fit him mid-season? Unless they sit him until playoffs like Kucherov

I think that’s the X factor. How you value Krebs.

Tuch is a good piece - big body, powerfoward that can score but has had injury issues.

And the 1st rounder is likely later in that round. Again a nice add but if it’s outside the top 20, it loses its lustre.

Again not a bad return.. just meh for me.

Exactly the bolded part. I don't think he's scheduled to be healthy for awhile.

Yeah pretty much. Tuch is a good player and locked up, but just short of a top end player. He will be good though. The 1st round is a 1st rounder... 3-5 years away from knowing his impact.

Krebs is definitely the X factor and I have my doubts. I have been wrong before.

One of the biggest thing is that Buffalo didn't have to pick up a bad bloated contract.

Krebs is the X factor as a variable, but Tuch's value is the big undersell IMO. 25 year old 50 point power forward with term.. if he was being sold for futures he'd be 1st ++ on his own.

Controversial opinion- I would have been quite happy with this for Marner.

So Vegas currently around $17 million over the cap, but with Patch, Eichel, Bischoff. On LTIR to get them compliant.

I wonder what their plan is, to get under the cap, whenever these guys get healthy. (If they do).
Eichel will stay on LTIR until July or until they trade cap space.

So, if TD is on the one on the block, what’s the expected return?
There’s already a numbers game up front with Mik/Semyonov and a couple more, and that would make the 7th D pretty green.
I can’t see much legs to this, really.

a 2nd, picked in the 2nd round and has turned into a bottom pair middle pair dman in a pinch. Doesn’t have exciting potential still at his age
