I'm more than happy to just tinker at the deadline. If we could upgrade Mraz somehow and add a middle 6 fwd I'm pretty content. Don't lose the first or a top prospect, force this core to elevate

Boston has given up 1 1st, 2 2nds, a prospect, and a depth player
Florida has given up 2 1sts, 1 3rd, a prospect, and two roster players
Tampa has given up 2 1sts, and two roster players

At least one of those teams will be eliminated

If that's what the Joneses are doing, I'd rather keep our prospects and not take out a mortgage to keep up.
Make a minor move or two and go with this core, sink or swim.

Hopefully Campbell and Muzzin can come back healthy and play like they used to :dunno:
Or maybe Kallgren can go on a hot rookie playoff tear we often see.

Add gio and maybe a Motte and call it a day unless a hockey deal is there to be made

Honestly surprised Dermott is playing. THought for sure he would be a healthy scratch for asset protection. Friedman made it seem like he was being traded for sure

If someone is trading for him I imagine it's a team outside of the playoffs that want him for next year and to try to build him back up (top 4 ice time) to either flip or keep longer term.

Likely not getting traded to a playoff team.

The reported one that involved Knies and multiple firsts for Hagel and Fleury? Or the one Tampa made but with equivalent assets from the Leafs? I wanted Hagel but he's not worth that much in my opinion

Oh I didn't even hear about the Fleury thing, I've been working all day. I meant an equivalent to the Tampa thing, two 1sts plus two bodies that don't really move the needle.

I don't have much interest in Fleury, he's been pretty bad himself for a bit now.

We have elite skill. Even our top competitors in the Atlantic, don't have an Auston Matthews. Sprinkle in Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and William Nylander....and we're hard to match. Where we've failed is adding Michael Bunting types around the edges. 1 of Clifford/Simmonds should be in the playoff lineup. Another rough forward should be added. Another rough D-man should be added. Obviously I mean guys who can play/contribute as well. We'll be ok if we add some bite upfront and on the backend. Ultimately though, it starts with guys like Matthews being aggressive like he was against Dahling, or being one of the team's hit leaders like he was last year. Our star guys need to buy in, all the way in. We're a couple minor (aggressive)
tweaks away if our top plays show some snarl imo

it was a bad trade before the injury, it's very much on Kyle. He turns into a bit of an oaf around the deadline.

Then comes the offseason and he usually makes good moves

As much as it was a trade I was not in support of at the time. Comparing a 1st last year when no one even played to this year is kinda silly.

Also. Giroux is living off name like foligno did

We shoulda had to pay just to get rid of him and his extra year. The fact we got a physical D, in his mid 20s, who can play in the top 4...was a robbery
It was not robbery. If Lybushkin is regularly in your top 4 then your D is in trouble. Kind of like expecting Ritchie to play in your top 6. Ritchie has done his job well in the desert so far. It can be a good trade without the hyperbole.

Based on what? He hasn't had a long run in the league. So based on his short resume? Bunting has a short resume and I think he could play in anyone's top 6 without "being in trouble". Not sure where you get Lyubushkin in the top 4 meaning we're in trouble from? What statistics are you looking at? Genuine question...not looking for an argument, rather some insight
