I think that's pretty accurate. Gut feelings Francis does right by Gio and sends him to Toronto. It's become pretty clear for every other team, that Gio is going to try his hardest to try and sign with us in the off-season regardless. He isn't what he once was...but he's still a top 4 on most squads, and he's still logging 20+ mins a night. Have a feeling he'll be a Leaf by MondayWho's does that leave in the market for Giordano? Canes, Blues and Rangers?

I'm not sure this club is a minor move away from doing anything in spite of a bunch of players having great years. Tampa seems to deal high picks and prospects every year and has two Cups to show for it. Boston has done a bit of that as well for years, and in spite of that they remain competitive. I don't fault KD for doing the same last year. A healthy Foligno and Tavares and they might have had something to show for it. If he does it again this year I am happy with it (but choose better than Nick!), especially if he can make the cap situation better rather than worse. Picks are just maybes until they show they can take the next step. Right now its the guys who have shown they have the next gear we don't want to see out the door right? Having said all that, the success rate for playoff rentals being a win is pretty poor and a hot goalie trumps all.Boston has given up 1 1st, 2 2nds, a prospect, and a depth player
Florida has given up 2 1sts, 1 3rd, a prospect, and two roster players
Tampa has given up 2 1sts, and two roster players
At least one of those teams will be eliminated
If that's what the Joneses are doing, I'd rather keep our prospects and not take out a mortgage to keep up.
Make a minor move or two and go with this core, sink or swim.
Hopefully Campbell and Muzzin can come back healthy and play like they used to
Or maybe Kallgren can go on a hot rookie playoff tear we often see.
I actually do agree with this too.I'm not sure this club is a minor move away from doing anything in spite of a bunch of players having great years. TDL to me is as exciting as the draft used to be when the Leafs were doormats but so far I haven't seen much to make me the Leafs had ponied up for anything and Dubas has supposedly been working the phones on a lot of different things. I don't think its a minor move he has planned.
Not sure how I feel about Tyler Motte. The 3rd line is fine without him, he doesn't play top 6 minutes with Van and could he be any kind of an upgrade on Kerfoot? You aren't going to do any real spend for the 4th line so where does he fit? But he does hit a bit, his giveaway to takeaway ratio is best on the Canucks and he is their #2 forward for PK minutes. So why was Dubas allegedly inquiring? Is it in fact a Kerfoot move to drop $2M+ in cap? He was in on Hagel as well so....
My theory is Motte (pending UFA so if he walks the Nucks get jack) and Gio. Not saying I want this, I just kind of expect it.
Because we traded our first for a 2nd line LW. The other prices are higher, but they got back either top 4 D or player with term (Hagel). Or maybe I'm just bitter that the teams we are potentially going to see in the playoffs all got better. Especially hate Boston getting Lindholm, hopefully he doesn't resigned or gets signed to a bad contract. Why? The fact he got hurt isn't on the GM.
That's a bizarre take.
Keep in mind that all these first, even ours, are/would be very low picks, almost 2nds that’s why the returns look huge but they okBoston has given up 1 1st, 2 2nds, a prospect, and a depth player

Rielly BooshMakes a fabulous partner for one of the kids on D too.
Those moves set the franchise back a decade, and for what? To lose to the flyers in the second round or Carolina/Buffalo in the semi finals? Who cares.I miss the late 90s early 2000s deadlines.
Leetch, Nolan, Nieuwendyk,
I will make him my f*# ing avatar if he does that. Even if Gio does nothing the get for that kind of a cost is a crazy win because he could actually be a better than Muzzin addition, we don't know, and that's all the buying team can control.I mean if Dubas somehow ends up getting Giordano for like Duscak and a 3rd does he win this TDL?
I’d swap dermott for a similar value forward and then grab a different type of 8th D man, unless they can make a package for Gio without selling the farm.I cannot believe these prices.
The Hagel trade was insane, bat shit crazy. Lindholm for basically two 1sts and two 2nds is bonkers. He hasnt been even great in years. Giroux one makes sense, but apparently he was only going to Florida and wanted out so the Panthers had leverage. I can't even imagine what Forsberg or Miller would be traded for.
Honestly, our team matches up well against anyone as is. An add would be nice, but not at these prices. Mortgaging the future when this team is good enough as is besides goaltending would be insane to me.
Rielly Boosh
Gio Brodie
Muzz Holl
Sandin Liljegren
Everyone says you need 8 nhl D for a playoff run, there’s 8.
If those top three pairings can be what their reasonable best form is at the right time it’s a pretty damn good group.
With the two pairs presumably being Gio brodie and muzz holl there’s a built in insulation if it’s not working that game and can get them away from the tougher matchupsIn principle I agree, but we really don’t know if Boosh is capable of even top4 minutes yet.

Watched him for 3+ seasons in Arizona. Like him. Legit NHLer. Good at what he does. He has cement hands though and does not have the skill a contender like Toronto should be wanting in their top 4.Based on what? He hasn't had a long run in the league. So based on his short resume? Bunting has a short resume and I think he could play in anyone's top 6 without "being in trouble". Not sure where you get Lyubushkin in the top 4 meaning we're in trouble from? What statistics are you looking at? Genuine question...not looking for an argument, rather some insight
They are looking at Calgary as being a war.Deslauriers to Minny is odd considering Minnesota literally has toughness all around. Foligno/Greenway/Hartman/Duhaime/Dumba. Now you add in Delauriers.
Bill Guerin ready for any kind of game
They will do something though tomorrow sire. You'llsee. We gon git a vet gezoalie. Like anderson etc. Even Korpisalo. Or some other real fool. Also we calling for Schenn, Luke. For hits and gravity. We also might take some other thuggish ruggish bone... like rinaldo or motte. Maybe even a Watson due trade. We gon definitely see to it. A guy like Delaursielrs would have REALLY been ours..... he defends his buddies in seconds. Fights, hits, scores. Plays PK. He is really out thurr... but minny got him already milord.I don’t Think we should do anything
We are not built for playoffs hockey and we need too much to start now
Save our picks and prospects and upgrade to some players with heart in the offseason
How can this team ever beat Florida Tampa Boston in a 7 game series.
For playoff hockey we need upgrades on holl dermott on defence. We need some grit back there. Dermott can’t clear the front of the net and holl is soft and slow and low hockey IQ
We have one elite first line
A third line who can skate and shut down the other team
KERFOOT nylander Tavares sucks together need upgrade for sure
We really don’t have a fourth line. Spezza should retire
Clifford is a joke
Simmons’s is done
Kate should retire before he has permanent damage from his concussions
Campbell and mrazek are iffy at best
Kallegren is unproven
We need too much and now is not the time to waste assets
