You are not losing any of of your top prospects. You give up 1 1st rounder
2nd rounders are spaced out. You have time to recover those

You gave up no valuable player from the roaster.

If you don't give that up for a franchise type of D who will be your player for next 8 years..... Who do you give that up for?

A 1st, 2 seconds and a 2 players is a ridiculous price for a player who hasn’t really had that great of a season in a couple years. He’s been on a bad team, but still. Don’t get me wrong, I was interested, but not at that acquisition cost.

I do not see Lindholm as a franchise D. Maybe that’s the disconnect between our reactions

Dubas did right not overpaying especially when he could be fired this off-season. I respect that. Leafs in a tough spot with their goalie situation. How good is Giordano??

errr....knowing the extension @ 6.5 for Lindholm. I would've done that deal and traded Nylander for prospects/low cap hit players to create cap space. I mean Dubas should have known the ask from Lindholm, right?? Was 6.5 too high for him because he refuses to trade anyone from the top 4?

if he didn't that means he's. a bigger homer. He had to know every detail

Lindholm got that type of deal because he's not on the level of some of the other D who have signed deals this season, bit beacuse the Bruins got a steal of a deal at best they got a fair one.

Dermott probably has played his last game as a Leaf. Curious what the return will be

Oh he knew everything alright. He's too loyal to his boys. Lindholm coming here means someone in the top-4 no longer as a place on the team.

He would have been perfect puck moving positional D for our team. Especially the way we play

He's very sound defensively. There will be a cost to acquisiation. This is not a rental anymore, this is a hockey trade

We have drafted well enough to part aways with 1st rounders and 2nd rounders

Especially knowing that he's going to a divisional rival on a position that's more important to us

Well we will see. if we give up any 2nd rounders for Gio, I'll lose it

Kyle has some explaining to do

He got a McDonagh like contract because that's the type of D he is. Exactly what Toronto could use.

Awesome D who can be physical and play on PP
Also a potential for Norris

Giving up any prime assets after seeing teams already better than the leafs get even better doesn’t make sense. The realistic approach would be to stand pat or tinker but not give anything of substance. Regroup in the off-season, decide on the future with management, coaching and core and go from there. Sucks but best long term play.

Boston always seems to win. Good deal for them. Dubas in a tough spot with this team right now. They should let boston leap frog them. We will not win vs tampa and the best goalie in league. Take your chances with Carolina imo

This all makes sense. 6 years ago
We have a captain that's aging. We have 2 other players, best player, going into 2 years left after this year

Was off the boards for a couple days, and whoa at some of those deals.
Seems like Travis Dermott is on the outside looking in. The return on hin might be surprisingly high.
I’m liking the idea of letting kids play as deadline additions.
Anderson and Steeves. Abruzzese and Knies if they sign. Holmberg. NickRob. Give them some leash. See what’s up with Meyers and McBain.
Sniff around value adds with term.

Yall think it's gonna be a futures deal or a 1 for 1 type of deal with a similar value forward?
