I’d love to see a hockey trade as opposed to futures for rentals. Let’s really shake things up. Nylander for an equivalent D or different type of forward. I know Dubas won’t do it but would love to see a blockbuster
On the ice we all see what this team is and has been

What amazes me is how irrelevant we still are off the ice, not involved in any major deals or acquiring major pieces
Still going for cheap short term fixes that haven’t resulted in any playoff sucess

I do think though that last year scared dubas of offloading our 1st for rentals lol

Dubas has a decision to make. Hopefully this game showed we need a forward badly. If Gio is our best option then sure but he needs to look at the forwards first.

Good point here. A drawback to getting Gio. Your losing one of Sandin and Liljegren's transition abilities.

Lindholm got that type of deal because he's not on the level of some of the other D who have signed deals this season, bit beacuse the Bruins got a steal of a deal at best they got a fair one.

Dermott probably has played his last game as a Leaf. Curious what the return will be
Leafs mismanaged their D this offseason i thought. It started with wanting to keep Holl in Kraken draft. Their D was better last year, i get that, but they should have been improved on it. They never did and now they r paying the price.

Neither a great nor terrible contract for Lindholm there. Re-upping makes sense though considering what Boston traded away. Should work out to be a good trade for both teams.

Definitely gun shy. Also, there are so many areas needs improvement, I think maybe overwhelmed by which one to tackle first

Spezza cannot be a regular player on the 4th line. Leafs need more speed/grit/energy. Clifford is useless too.

We were apparently interested in Deslauriers. What other 4th line forwards are out there? Cal Clutterbuck would've been amazing but too pricey.

They also didn't replace Bogo. A big body back there who kept the game simple
I think they are trying that with Schenn

If were interested in Des why didn't we get him? what' a 3rd rounder for us or anyone, especially a functional role that we are lacking

Maybe but theres a degree of ambiguity about their future. the Ducks are full blown is tarting one, so at the very least not a situation where a vet player who has alternative options would want to stay

Multiple reports have said he wanted to stay but verberk wanting nothing to do with term. You have to wonder why

3rd rd pick for a 4th line is way too rich. Minnesota def overpaid there.

Im sure there are other cheaper options

The thing is we’ve got guys in the system who would look great in an energy 4th line role. But this franchise insists on playing Spezza/Simmonds/Clifford types who are on the outs of their careers

Like whom? Des was probably the best one available who can play with an edge, fight without beign a total liability

He also has a fear factor

Adding to that.., it's not market value, it's your percieved worth for a player like that on this team

If you want that player, go get that player. Simple as that,.
Tampa, Florida Boston that's what they did. They identified certain players, overpaid for it and moved on.

I don't think the team needs another left sided guy especially on a long term deal.
He would step in and immediately be the team's 2nd best D, Best one defensively. Muzzin is compromised and who knows what he's going to look like when he comes back. Why the f*** are you worried about him being left handed?

Tampa runs 3 of their best D all on the left side and they make it work great.

Im fine with Simmonds because he still has that fear factor to him in a long 7 game series. He can be our version of Pat Maroon.

Sam Carrick would be a great add over Spezza

The only thing that could keep up with the others is Chychrun plus another forward.

Giordano is a decent add (assuming he finds chemistry with Brodie) but likely won't be enough considering what everyone else has done in the division.

When Friedman says they're interested in Justin Braun I'm like...why are they so desperate to get Liljegren out of the lineup. I don't get it.
