Im fine with Simmonds because he still has that fear factor to him in a long 7 game series. He can be our version of Pat Maroon.

Sam Carrick would be a great add over Spezza

Sorry bro he doesnt. If he did, he would have done something last year
He was a nobody. Anderson made him his little b#**. Ran at him 3 times and that was just the first game

But also adding to that, if we face a good team, we won't make it pass 4. So he wont' get an opportunity to showcase his poweress and truculence

When Friedman says they're interested in Justin Braun I'm like...why are they so desperate to get Liljegren out of the lineup. I don't get it.

Justin is not very good, but he has a man's body. Lilly still has a teenage body.
Today's game Sandin was pushed out for the 2nd goal. This is happening to these two very often

Yall think it's gonna be a futures deal or a 1 for 1 type of deal with a similar value forward?

I wouldn't mind it being for another defenceman (either through a single trade or a concurrent one) in order to retain the same amount of depth there. A forward would be an acceptable return too though (or necessary, dependent upon the status of Kase). Now isn't the time for a futures deal in isolation. I hope that isn't going to be the play.

The only thing that could keep up with the others is Chychrun plus another forward.

Giordano is a decent add (assuming he finds chemistry with Brodie) but likely won't be enough considering what everyone else has done in the division.

Also, the more time that passes the more you can’t help but think he’s coming here for his final 1-2 years anyway in the offseason, and so it makes little sense to give up important assets for him knowing he won’t really nice that needle in a meaningful enough way.

Sometimes I feel like Dubas and Keefe really like to stick to their guys, and unfortunately Liljegren is a legacy player from Lou/Bab

I mean compare the chances Sandin got compared to Liljegren, it's kinda unfair.

Dubas has a decision to make. Hopefully this game showed we need a forward badly. If Gio is our best option then sure but he needs to look at the forwards first.

Good point here. A drawback to getting Gio. Your losing one of Sandin and Liljegren's transition abilities.

I think you move Dermott. Maybe pick up Hagg for a relatively cheap price if you want some size and LD depth, but he has to go for less than Dermott is getting back. That is all I am doing on defense. Gio doesn't make sense for us as much as he does for STL, CAR, and NYR... So I find it hard to believe those teams don't outbid us. He is the only guy who can really fill their needs properly too.

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Liljegren
Sandin - Holl
Hagg - Lyubushkin

Then focus on the offense. Kase's injury sucks and will determine if we need one or two guys. If Kase is fine, we just need one guy and I am looking at Comtois. If we want to continue trying JT-Nylander, then we can do that. If we don't:

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Comtois - Tavares - Kase
Kerfoot - Nylander - Spezza/Simmonds
Engvall - Kampf - Mikheyev

And then I think you double shift some guys.

Leafs mismanaged their D this offseason i thought. It started with wanting to keep Holl in Kraken draft. Their D was better last year, i get that, but they should have been improved on it. They never did and now they r paying the price.
Dubas was staring right down the barrel of a golden solution to D with Muzzin being questionable with his concussions. Not only that, but this D was fully willing to sign at a reasonable price.

I mean I guess he was drafted by Hunter, but he is as much a Keefe player as anyone. He has never played under Babcock once.

Anaheim might be our main trade target for a forward imo.

Rickard Rakell/Comtois/Carrick are all options i can see the Leafs being interested in

Be sellers please
We kidding ourselves thinking we’re 1 move away
Our competition have gone hard and upgraded
They will be in cap he’ll very soon
Focus on next season and sell the ones that won’t be part of it

If dubas is as smart as everyone says he is please realize this

All?

or you mean one of those ?

How about none of those. It's Gio in 2022. Not 2017

Realistically He's going to cost a 2nd+Dermott or Hirvonen at bare minimum. Gio is still a top 4 defenceman who's good defensively and can play 22+ minutes a night, despite his age.

Ducks fans and all his underlying stats say Lindholm has noticeably declined in recent years. He was desperate for term, he's going to age terribly. You guys are desperate to trade a bunch of assets so we can sign a Vlasic contract lol
We signed an older and worse player muzzin to a 4 year deal and it's looking like he's done at 32 or so. Lindholm at 28 will be a quality top 4D for half his contract. The back half will stink as most UFA signings do

We are experiencing the same with JT who continues to grow overpaid by the year as his play declines

Boston wants another cup in the very near future. They gave up next to nothing of value at the NHL level for the next 3-5 years

Those 1st and 2 2nds won't be NHL players for the Bruins contention period and the picks won't be high enough to be able to become NHL players at a faster than expected time period

The Bruins made a very good move for the next 3-4 years.

Then respecfully decline and send any emails from Seattle to spam. Move on

Gio doesn't do much to move the needle for this D

Rather Middleton at the price, Middleton is only 26. Gio maybe better than Middleton today, but realistically, we are not making it out of the first round this year regardless of Gio or Middleton.

That's what people are not getting. These first rounders are 3-4 years away from making any impact, that is provided that they pan out

Everyone in our division has strengthened their lineup for the playoffs, regardless of the price they paid.

And at least one will have paid the price to go out in round 1.

2 of Carolina. Boston tampa florida are gauranteed to go out in round 1.

p***y mentality. You can rebuild for a 100 years, you aint drafting Marner, Matthews again.

Its time to push every year for the next 10+ years.

This our time
