Unless he hates playing in Edmonton, Kane and the Oilers make a good match. Oilers desperate to turn it around and Kane would benefit huge playing with 97 or 29. Leafs are not desperate enough to sign a player with so much baggage. Hell they may never be so desperate.
Helps push a few guys into better spots, and he gets to ride shotgun on the wing of one of the two last scoring champs, both who are still playing lights out.
If im his agent, im telling him to find a nice hotel room with a ps5, and im taking away his phone.
Shutting up and playing hard with them will get him another big contract.

Kane can be had for cheap at this point. By Ritchie clearing waivers his salary can be buried on the taxi squad at the Leafs can save 1.5 million. That is easily enough to sign Kane and he would be the perfect player to be put on Matthews wing with Marner. As some have mentioned, it puts players in better spots for what we truly neeed.

Kane-Matthews-Marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander
Kase-Kampf-Micheyev
Engvall-Spezza-Bunting
Simmonds, Clifford,Ritchie

Not only does 5-on-5 improve with this lineup but so does PP and PK.

A signing of Kane also opens up an opportunity for the Leafs to deal from strength to improve their D-core heading into the deadline. With players like Kerfoot, Engvall, prospects and picks to be dealt.

If I am Kane's agent I am calling Dubas to make something happen.

Dubas has Kane's agent's phone number blocked.

Considering it's Millstein I'd imagine they've already had a conversation. We've signed half a dozen of Millstein's clients over the last 2-3 seasons.

Probably but from listening to Chris Johnson this morning and the tweet posted earlier from some guy I've never heard of, the Leafs don't have much interest. I'm thinking that unless Kane wants to be a Leaf like Tavares and Rielly, somebody will pay him more.

Yup it's definitely possible he wants to play elsewhere. No doubt.

To be honest I'd imagine he wants nothing to do with Canada in general.

Every team in the league should be taking a serious look at Kane at the very least. He’s arguably the best power forward on the planet right now, and there isn’t a team in the league he can’t help.

Saying that, he’s a potential locker room problem, so not every team can bring him on.

I'd agree with that. Somewhere like Florida where the teams are good and the media spotlight is non existent.

They should very much consider it. It makes no sense to me that there are different rules for the Leafs than for other teams. Why should we be okay with Tampa adding Kane but not the Leafs? Because we are afraid of what morons like Damien Cox and Steve Simmons will say?
I don’t think it has anything to do with what plugs in the media say. I just personally don’t want a pos like that anywhere near the team I root for, and feel like management would prioritize quality people first and foremost.

I def would have offered ritchie and mikhaev for 50% retention Kane and a pick (if sharks are that desperate it could have even been a 1st)!!!
Have him for this plus 3 more seasons at 3.5M yup, with our cap situation…he’ll yeah

I've come to the point where I'd be ok adding in Robertson to deal for an upgrade with term. Before I felt he was pretty off limits. But having Amirov, Knies and Robertson, it looks like LW is sort of a position of strength prospect-wise (while being more of a weakness, yet not a terrible one, pro-wise).

I'd still rather not deal him, but if he is the piece needed to grab an impact player with term, that is fine. I think management needs to really work on getting bang for their buck with the deadline acquisitions. I realize that is never a guarantee, but last year really did not work in the team's favour. A 1st, 3rd, 2 4ths, 5th, 6th for Foligno, Rittich, Hutton and Nash. A lot of picks out the door for players who are not only gone, but did little to nothing while here.

I understand that can comprise the definition of rental and that is the risk you are taking. But it just makes each deal more critical as to not waste assets. I think something that will help is depth is better this year, meaning the opportunity to make less smaller deals and focus on making more impact deals overall. Hoping players with term are the focus.

I imagine given the situation he takes a deal for far less than 3.5 .

For someone who has a known gambling addiction. There is no way the league his agent family and friends should allow him to go to Vegas. I'd like for him to find personal success wherever he goes. The last distractions the better.

Yes but anyone can sign him, hearing Edmonton, Tampa bay, Boston etc…

Whereas a trade gets him in our top 6 now

Sure but not for 3.5 . Especially if he wants to go to a contende; fitting significant salary additions can be mathematical gymnastics.
