It’s risky, but can we pay Gus a lesser amount for one year, then reward him the year after when MAF is gone, to be replaced by Wall at ELC rates, and the cap,is likely to go up a bit? Foligno’s cap hit would also be gone, and hopefully guys like Beckman, Yurov, Marat, and Ohgren start filtering into the lineup, all at ELC rates.

Oops that was a typo, the math was done with Gus at 2.5

Boeser can’t produce on a Vancouver team that has no problem scoring goals…… I don’t want him anywhere near the Wild

Are we seriously still doing this? When can we finally come to the realization either Fiala or GMBG didn’t want it or maybe both didn’t. It was never about “affording” him.

I think Fiala was as good as gone once he got the 1 year qualifying offer. Much of that had to do with Kaprizov waiting so long to sign his extension.

Boeser and Greenway were almost identical points production 5v5 the previous 3 seasons. Boeser can play on the PP, but PP2 is so fubar that one player (Boldy, Boeser, or JEE) being bumped from PP1 isn't going to make much difference for the team. There is just so much about Boeser's game that I don't like.

5v5 Greenway/Boeser last 3 full seasons

This is actually hilarious to see, thank you for sharing. I knew Boeser was overrated but I didn't realize it was to this extent.

Waiting for you to drop the mic in the Main Board thread.

It's not my place, and I truly don't think they should be considered equal value, but Canucks fans are some of the worst I've ever discussed trade value with. I really hate doing it, but sometimes I can't help myself.

Reading things like "Greenway is an ECHL level player" or "it would cost a 2nd just to dump Greenway" really takes it out of you. I don't even like Greenway either.

Ok, but that's not taking into account how bad Greenway has been this season, and that's the rub. In fairness to Vancouver fans, they did want Greenway before this year. If we instead do this season and the previous two, it's a different story.

I don't think Boeser is worth what a lot of Canucks fans are asking, and I don't love his overall game, but Greenway has been very bad this year, and I don't begrudge anyone for being scared off by that.

I don't care that Boeser has tripped over his skates less than Greenway this year. I want nothing to do with him for free unless it's half retained on his $6.65m salary. He's a complete passenger on every line he's on and MN doesn't have the ppg centers like VAN does with EP, Miller, or Horvat to carry him around the ice.

Rangers fans think the Wild will be sellers...what?

They're talking Zuccarello for Kravtsov and a 3rd, 50% retained. Would you do this?

(Don't do it...Kaprizov unhappy)

Yeah, I agree that I don't want Boeser on the Wild unless it's for the right price, and hefty retention is definitely a part of that price, but that wasn't what I was saying. If I were in the position of the Canucks, and I have to pick a guy who doesn't score without good center, or a guy who doesn't score regardless of who he plays with, I'll take the former. All I'm saying is that's what Canucks fans are thinking, and it's understandable why they feel that way about Greenway. I don't think what I'm saying is particularly controversial.

Now, to address your point of Boeser's centers, what Boeser would have here in Minnesota is a Boldy to carry him around, and probably also a JEE, both of whom are competent offensively at the worst. Tell me you see Greenway putting up equal points to Boeser on that line and I'll stop belaboring the point.

I wouldn't have minded seeing what a fully healthy Greenway would do for that line, but I'm also not all that interested in keeping him another year to find out. That doesn't take away from your point though, just a side comment.

Overall, I think you and I are in the same place on that account.
