A bigger lindgren wouldn’t be nearly as bad as the current sized one. Part of the problem is how he loses almost every puck battle, gets pushed around, and lets guys get to the net. Speed and break outs are also an issue but physicality might be worse with how broken down he is
His decline started when he had a shoulder separation injury two years ago.

Panarin at 50% + Schneider for Kempe & Brandt Clarke. I think LA is definitely one of the cities Panarin would waive to. Rangers need to get away from the soft fancy shit. Kempe is more of a straight line player and is fast as shit.

No way the kings trade Kempe. He is their next captain in my opinion. I rather keep Schneider, one of the few dman that is not afraid to hit. Rangers need more physical dman that can play.

I really hate that Cuylle and Laffy are getting 13-14 min a night with no substantial special teams time while the team is a bubble team at a wildcard spot this year.
Both should be concreted in the top 6 next year. And put Laf on the f***in 1PP already
Laf hasn't earned shit...honestly, he should be benched before he's given power play time. He's been completely checked out since he got his extension & a huge part of the problem. Someone needs to pull this kid aside & explain reality to him.

Kings don't touch that

My half awake retool while prob over valuing nyr players worth

Lindgren & smith to minny for merril(contract slot) & 1 of heidt/stramel/kivaharju(would love buium but not happening). Figure this would be similar to Dallas dealing a 1st & 3rd for ceci & grandlund

Kreider @50% to Colorado for guyliyav & Ritchie(prob dreaming kreider still has this value)

Panarin @ 50% to fl(plays with his bestie and no state tax) for Lundell,sawcyhn & 2026 1st.

Also recoup a 3rd or 4th by retaining
$ on another deal.

I’d approach quick too, see if he wants another cup and then make a side handshake that he can come back but also let’s nyr see what they got in garand.

One correction. The Magiapane move wasn't worked for the Capitals. He is playing on their 4th line and MacLellan is looking to add another forward. 2nd round pick for Mangiapane. $5.8M. Everything else has been on point. Washington parted ways with Laviolette and they hired a first time head coach in Carbery after missing the playoffs in 2022-23. Smart trades. Their kids took the next step. Some of their vets went on LTIR. Backstrom and Oshie. Kuznetsov was sent to Carolina at 50% retention and he voided the remaining season on his contract as he went back home. $3.9M off the books this season. $3M in salary.

Is Drury paying attention? The Rangers need to move on from their veteran players.

Miller’s not been here for very long, so maybe he’s not that aware of what’s transpired throughout this season. But if the Rangers don’t bring their best effort in Columbus on Saturday, GM Chris Drury’s desire to remake this roster could become a lot stronger and sharper with two weeks off and a month to go until the trade deadline.

You can be sure Drury is gauging the market on at least his pending UFAs: Ryan Lindgren, Reilly Smith and Jimmy Vesey. There are candidates for promotion waiting in the wings — a season like this one begs for the opportunity to see Brennan Othmann in some NHL games, a return for Brett Berard now that he’s healthy after missing four games with Hartford and maybe a look at future bottom-six spark plug Adam Sykora, who’s having a decent second season in the AHL.

The Rangers sit a somewhat manageable five points back of the second wild-card spot with 28 games to go. There’s a reason to think they could keep most or all of their own guys to try and get into the playoffs, where Shesterkin could get hot and the top guys could rekindle their recent playoff magic.

Could … if … maybe. Not a lot to go on. Drury has gotten admirable results with his drastic reshaping of the roster, if perhaps he’s used questionable methods to get there. Why stop now? Especially if his team is still so maddeningly inconsistent.

Could? Should already be a lot stronger.

Steve said the Rangers need to go 20-9 in their last 29 games to make the playoffs. They already lost one of those games. He placed the blame directly on the Rangers vets last night. Good for him. Giannone brought up JT Miller. Steve said he didn't know JT was playing because he barely heard his name mentioned in the first two periods. Did anyone notice Fox changing when the Rangers were on the PP after pulling the goalie? He was tired and KMiller replaced him. Really? When Peca was drawing up the play after taking a timeout, Fox could barely stand up.

I hope the U.S. goes to the championship game on Thursday February 20 8pm start against Sweden and all of these guys come back to NY on fumes. The Rangers begin play on the 22nd in Buffalo. 5:30pm start. Play in Pittsburgh the next day at 3:30pm.

After that "effort" last night it's definitely sell time. That's their "desperate" game to win what should've been a cakewalk over a team missing its best players? That's what you've got to give?

Horrendous.

This entire season I've been watching this team possess the puck, make bad decisions/dump ins/passes, and spend the entirety of their shift defending. It's coach and, more, it's effort, and both have been missing since November except for a short spurt of somewhat dedicated hockey in early January.

The Penguins had next to nobody but stuck to their system and the Rangers couldn't do much.

Sell. CK. MZ. RL. KAM. RS. Goodbye.

With nyr scouting chi could they be playing jones as a showcase? Maybe something like jones+ for Reichel? Seems to be playing as a 4c blocked by bedard, nazar, w/Moore on the way. Chicago could use a (potentially) d to run the point on the pp. not sure how much nyr would need to add but could be a good young player swap.

They're playing Jones because Vaak is sick. The Rangers are scouting Chicago, but did Chicago have scouts at the Ranger game last night?

Time to trade Smith, play Kaliyev. Why wait? Send the message to the team that it’s unacceptable. The next time it happens trade another veteran. Call up a young player

i can think of about 7 players who should be “statement traded”, if you will, before Smith. He’s been ass recently but the rot lies elsewhere. he should still be traded but if i’m drury i’m trying to move one of the major culprits during 4N

I hope Miller punches him right in the mouth and tells him to man up and take the panties off ......his overall performance is right there with Alexander Daigle.....another #1OA from the Quebec league .

Might be the most frustrating loss of the season last night. Had some momentum. Played a team that lost its two best players. And just gave a putrid effort. From the onset of the game will all the lazy cross ice passes you could see just how this was going to play out.

Same story all year. Theres nothing driving this group to compete. They need to break it up, but they are never going to sell at the deadline. Instead they will be buying another #3C. Probably Kevin Hayes at the deadline. Something around Jones and a late pick for him. Thats my guess. Not what I want them to do but thats where I see this going.
