Might have been their thinking with the 1.5 million. Maybe make him less of a temptation. That said, a 24 year old cost controlled defencemen with lots of NHL experience already isn't a bad thing. We saw what happened with Vegas when some guys were given a chance. Nate Schmidt was buried in Washington, then became a top 4 big time contributor in Vegas. Dermott I think could easily step into a Seattle top 4 and thrive. We really haven't developed him all that well tbh. We haven't given him PP2 time, instead we give it to Sandin for some reason. Barely use him on the PK, yet ask him to change his offensive style into a more defensively responsible game...I think Seattle would be smart to take him if we leave him exposed. But that's just my opinion
