We don't need to hear this again

Dermy is not da problem he bleeds blue more than anyone on that team right now .. yes he made a horrible error and his partner should have fully blocked da shot too or got da h*ll outta da way .. never smart to deflect a shot past your goalie .. 2 bad mistakes and it cost team for sure .. but Dermy is a great kid who gives all he's got .. he is not afraid to take a bad hit to make a play, he will block a shot with his face if required, he is type of guy we need to keep .. and he is one of our faster skaters behind Rielly

We don't need to hear this again

I am not even convinced that they make the playoffs TBH with you.

Nah we'll make the playoffs. Thats when we'll beat teams when they're sleep walking or pond skating throughout the regular season.

Because at the end of the day it really not a Talent issue...than it is a work ethic issue. This team don't have the intensity, ruggedness and hustle for the playoffs.

Dermott hasn't really progressed along the trajectory expected. But for the minimal amount of years and very reasonable dollar value, worth giving the 24-year old with decent potential some extra time to prove his worth.

We are not as good as Tampa, Florida or Boston - they are better teams than us
Washington, Canes and Isles are better teams than us
I think Pitts will still get a wildcard but a lot will depend on Geno
Then Rangers, Philli, Habs Sens and us fighting for 1 or 2 spots
I don't think we are getting in based on today's roster

You're underestimating the Regular Season Toronto Maple Leafs

I like it personally I’d prefer Dermott to Holl as dermott has a bit of an edge to his game and I think he moves better as well…yeah Holl is bigger but dermott is more likely to take the body out of the two…one boneheaded spinorama isn’t a reason to completely turn your back on a guy

This is a guy who was pushed out of the lineup in the playoffs. No idea why you’d pay him anything that isn’t fully buried in the minors.

Dermott was not scratched due to performance. IMO he was scratched because our PP with Rielly at QB was terrible and somebody thought Sandin was the solution. In the end Sandin cost us 2 games. Dermott 1.

Seems to indicate the Leafs' plan on going 4-4 and exposing Dermott (IMO a mistake) who will likely be claimed by Seattle.

If they had Dermott in their long-term plans, Dubas likely would have tried to grind down the cap hit further given Dermott doesn't have much leverage in negotiations.

I think they should keep Dermott over Holl, but Dubas'/Keefe's preferences seem to be the opposite.

Calm yourself lol. Dermott signed means either Kerfoot or Holl is going out the door. If we can get both off the books we have 5.5 to beef up the 3rd line. Dermott, Sandin, Liljegren, Bogo will fill out the 4, 5 and 6 spots adequately

I think quite the opposite. Dermott will be protected and Holl exposed

This is Dubas grinding down the cap hit.

he went from $863 thousand in his last ELC year to $874 thousand in his first year as an RFA. Why would him having his worst season and his least significant role lead to a much bigger raise?

That's a different statement.

I corrected your original statement that a RFA who had reduced playing time doesn't end up getting a raise. RFAs always get raises or they get released.

Now as far as the actual raise amount, most people think its fair - even on the general board that hates the Leafs.
