I really hope Murray makes a lot of people feel dumb about their posts. Let's welcome the damn guy to TO! If right now it doesn't seem like the greatest deal, whatever, I get it....but for the love of all that is holy, please stop crapping on a guy we're gonna desperately need this season. Should be getting behind him and building his confidence back up. New team, fresh start. We need to stop eating our own.

Whelp we still need another goalie, all we can do is hope and pray he goes after Blackwood and that Blackwood puts it all together and becomes our true #1.

I also like that kid we drafted in the 4th round, F it, trial by fire lets just throw him in after Murray fails, its about damn time we got lucky on a goalie.

Ian Scott still around? Lets toss him in too.

If it doesn't work, Dubas will absolutely be fired. I don't see him escaping from that, no matter what.

Yeah, he's staking his entire GM career in Toronto right now on betting everything on one of the first Soo goaltenders who played for him in the OHL. This either gets hailed the most genius move of his tenure or it's his pink slip. There's no in between.

You're an angry little fella, I get it, but if Murray becomes good this is a good move, hard stop. If he doesn't, which is likely, then Dubas will likely need a new job. It's a big risk, not one I would take, but I'm not Dubas.
No it isn't. Just because you paid for something increases in value doesn't mean its okay to overpay for something. It simply makes ZERO sense. That's financial illiteracy unfortunately.

Yep. There is a ridiculously high chance of failure with this move. If Murray is shit during the regular season or we somehow make the playoffs with him and he costs us then it lies squarely at Dubas' feet. He could've re-signed Campbell, went harder after Gibson, done literally anything else other than take a massive risk on an injury prone has-been. Because if Murray is shit there's little chance of help unless Kallgren or Woll turn into NHL starters.

I'm shocked he'd bet his career as Leafs GM on this. It's astonishing.

I mean, terrible trade today, but the deal like that actually looks pretty good other than the extra cap space

Murray is still a better goalie, with better pedigree and higher potential, the 3rd in 2023 is as valuable as the 2nd in 2022 and the 2nd in 2022 is only 13 spots back of the 1st they gave up.

But ya, they should’ve saved in cap after dumping Mrazek, not added

I mean also add jack Campbell who we offered 2.75 f***ing mil

The only positive thing I can think of (other than Murray kickin' ass and we go on a playoff run)
Is that Dubas is aiming to go full on Avs... Good team, lots of injuries, tank, luck out for a lottery pick, grab Bedard and go from there lol

We’ve welcomed goaltender after goaltender, then shredded them to bits when they couldn’t capatalize
We did it with reimer
We did it with andersen
We did it with campbell

Maybe the fans should be allowed to be skeptical and dare I say, bitter. We just have been through too much to warrant any suspect trade to be welcomed

I have always supported Dubas as I honestly believe in 90% of what he has done, at THAT point in time.

This move is HORRIBLE. I can't believe what I am seeing and hearing.

We could have given Campbell that money (plus a few hundred k) and been FINE imo. Instead we go with a complete DUD so we can aquire a 3rd and 7th?

Pinch me. Punch me. Slap me. Wake me the EFF UP PLEASE!

Baffling. How is this any better than paying Jack Campbell?

Ugh. Somebody explain to me how this is actually some big brain move...

The only thing that makes sense with regards to Campbell is that they didn't want to commit to 4-5 years Jack will get. Murray is done in 2 years at worst, and has a favourable buyout next summer if need be

We're crapping on kyle dubas not so much Matt.

And honestly deservedly so.

It literally may work out but holy shit is this the biggest gamble of all time

We just bought the sens giroux as well so that's fun

Dorion is an idiot, but he recovers well. He signs two players (Dadonov and Murray) to some really backloaded deals. Both end up failing to meet expectations.

Instead of blowing up in his face though, he managed to get Holden and a 7th out of it and all we had to do is retain 25% on Murray. (We got a 3rd for Dadonov, but had to give up a 3rd for Murray, so it kinda balances out)

Man, as a Sens fan, this is going to be a great thread.
You...are on the Leafs board. You know that right?

I mean, this is Dubas guy. He wanted Murray, there were really no rumblings about anything else, including bringing Campbell back.

This is …. God I hope Dubas is right on this, because I don’t see it.

For me Samsonov or Blackwood with Murray would be the only way I would be happy with this seasons starting goalie duo. Even then I imagine we are looking at 7/million for the two goalies rather than the 5/million I thought we would be running with either Samsonov or Blackwood with Murray.

Looks like Murray will be the 1A and Dubas is bargain shopping for the 1B. I thought most of us were okay with Murray as the 1B at 50%…this really changes the dynamics
