Baffling. How is this any better than paying Jack Campbell?

Ugh. Somebody explain to me how this is actually some big brain move...
Maybe Jack Campbell doesn't want to stay in Toronto and wants to test free agency? Just because he says he liked playing here doesn't mean he's not willing to test the market. He's definitely not coming back now.

No it doesn't lmao. We got a starting goalie for free. We just didn't get enough back.
Starting goalie doesn’t really describe Murray imo

He’s been replaced on two teams now, first jarry, now forsberg. He played decent this year, but for around 2-3 years he’s been mediocre at best. Sure he doesn’t get goal support often but his stats are still too bad. It’s a gamble to think he returns to peak form. And only getting 25% retention makes it that much harder to find a reliable backup incase this implodes.

Hi leaf fans, was wondering if stolarz made sense for a back up plan for MM…. Dostal is ready to jump in…. And seems highly unlikely we move gibson.

Stolarz is on last year of his contract, has put up solid numbers and his contract is essentially nothing
You guys want a 1st?

Reminder: Ottawa were willing to move their 7th overall pick last Friday, to move Murray at 50% retained to Buffalo.

To only get 25% retained, and only a 3rd, four days later, is so disappointing.

To hitch your wagon in the single most important season in recent memory, to a broken, busted, out of sorts Murray is the sort of BOOM or BUST move that costs you a job.
It was only 25% with Buff, but the point stands.

What a cluster!uck of a crappy trade.

Huge dissatisfaction and disappointment. Dubas must have been negotiating against himself and Dorian just let him.

Honestly, how are we better off here than if we’d kept Mrazek? We would have saved $300k and drafted 25th, and still gone after Samsonov.

This sucks.

I'm done with Dubas after this. Time to move on. Might as well start looking for 2nd round targets for next year's draft when he tries to fix his mistake again. Absolutely ridiculous, I think we are going to regret not keeping Campbell.

I hate the Dubas verbiage of betting, gambling and staking. It's too bad he really got away from his primary job, which is building.

To trade out of the first round to get rid of Mrazek, just to fill that cap space with Murray, boggles my mind.

I'm a Dubas fan, and I trust him, but this is one HELL of a gamble for this core, this window, and his job.

There better be one hell of a sweetener attached to this deal.
Depends on your definition of one hell of a sweetener, is a 3rd and 6th the sweetener you hoped for?

There better be more moves made. Murray cannot be the starter for next season!!...... Can he???

Okay sure but if people criticize even his good deals, does the mean they are his worst enemy.
Also @Morgs didn't defend the deal. He said potential of Murray but also this trade isn't good.
The issue is that morgs can never outright say this was shit. That's fine. Good poster but then he comes back saying no we didnt get enough but the deal doesnt blow.

Um yes it does. Yes it does.

Like this is a fireable offense. Dig up the posts when mraz signed to 3.8. He was super happy about that as well. Like this trade is ass and there isn't one redeemable quality of this. EVEN if murray becomes a serviceable 1A we just got less than what buffalo literally got few days back.

In: Murray at 4.7 for 2 years, #38, 2023 3rd, 2024 7th
Out: Mrazek at 3.5 for 2 years, #25

Yeah this guy should be fired

I mean, terrible trade today, but the deal like that actually looks pretty good other than the extra cap space

Murray is still a better goalie, with better pedigree and higher potential, the 3rd in 2023 is as valuable as the 2nd in 2022 and the 2nd in 2022 is only 13 spots back of the 1st they gave up.

But ya, they should’ve saved in cap after dumping Mrazek, not added
