on the bright side, you all got what you wanted.

the doomsday clock just started ticking, if murray shits the bed and the team is outside of a play off position in december he most likely gets relieved by january. On the other hand. if this does work and murray regains his Pittsburgh form and manages to get this team out of the first round . most likely means dubas gets re upped

I really hope Murray makes a lot of people feel dumb about their posts. Let's welcome the damn guy to TO! If right now it doesn't seem like the greatest deal, whatever, I get it....but for the love of all that is holy, please stop crapping on a guy we're gonna desperately need this season. Should be getting behind him and building his confidence back up. New team, fresh start. We need to stop eating our own.
It's because we have 6 first round exits in a row and our core window is slowly closing and Dubas genius idea is to go out and get a project goalie that MAYBE can return to form, as of right now he is a bad goalie and worse than the one we just let go.

So yeah, people are allowed to be a bit upset, hopefully it works out, i truly hope it does.

But looking at it objectively, we just got worse in the most important position in the sport, banking on a has been returning to form, hypothetically wasting another year of this core.

Yeah, we can be pretty damn upset about this.

The context is very different though - with Mrazek, it was Dubas acknowledging he made a mistake and rectifying it.

If in 12 months, Dubas has to do the same with Murray, it's Dubas acknowledging that he doesn't learn from his mistakes.
Im not sure its the same mistake as much as it would simply be poor talent evaluation

Actual deal isn't very good.

But I do believe Murray has a decent chance of being good here. His personality and style are fits for this market and team. He's won, even if it was a long time ago, which should help settle our team. Goaltending is a bit of a crapshoot anyways. Maybe I'm just trying to be positive...

Goal above expected

21th murray +3.78
5 thCampbell-8.78

Lets go Edmonton, go give 6M / 7 years and stick with campbell contract til the end of it...
They’ll make us regret it.
Ceci fit right in
So did hyman

Both got rid of their choker tags and Hyman even had a solid playoffs for once

Out of the 65 goalies that played 1000 miniteslast season, Campbell had the 9th best D (xGA) in front of him and Murray had the 61st.

Give Murray a chance here before you burn him at the stake.

Sure, the health issues are scary but a change of scenery can do wonders for a 2x cup winner getting behind a real D again.

I doubt ithis was Dubas' first choice.

Campbells issue was probably term, Leafs clearly don't want t lock in for longer than a couple of years. He will need to be healthy. If not, this goes sideways really fast barring a hero stepping in.

This probably also means the Leafs are going to make more than just surgical moves this year.

I don't even give a rats ass about the picks but the 25% retention! I'm almost speechless that we are paying more for a guy with less success than Mrazek over the last few years after trading a first to move that contract(a trade I was in favor of) on a cap strapped team.

I'm a Dubas supporter but this is absolutely baffling.

ok I think I can live with this..... 2 time Cup winner, still fairly young and played on a poor sens team.....ahhhhh i cant justify it this f***ing sucks
Im kinda looking forward to see Dangle freakout now though

We’ve welcomed goaltender after goaltender, then shredded them to bits when they couldn’t capatalize
We did it with reimer
We did it with andersen
We did it with campbell

Maybe the fans should be allowed to be skeptical and dare I say, bitter. We just have been through too much to warrant any suspect trade to be welcomed
Been a fan my whole life. Still not going to be a donkey to a brand new face who's never played a game for us...just because we thought our GM didn't make a good enough deal (I admit I thought Dubas would have gotten more). Being a fan is taking all the abuse, and still coming back with unwarranted, and unrelenting optimism. Murray isn't going to stand a chance at getting back on track with the way this fanbase is reacting. Feel bad for the guy honestly
