Hard not to disagree now. kinda would like a new management to run whats next. if that means we have to tare down then we have to tare down. I feel like this move is a clear indication that Matthews last 2 years of his contract will be wasted.
still lots of time for moves but this feels like the wrong one.
I wanted to take a chance on Blackwood or something.
The next GM has an absolutely brutal job on their hands.

For me Samsonov or Blackwood with Murray would be the only way I would be happy with this seasons starting goalie duo. Even then I imagine we are looking at 7/million for the two goalies rather than the 5/million I thought we would be running with either Samsonov or Blackwood with Murray.

Looks like Murray will be the 1A and Dubas is bargain shopping for the 1B. I thought most of us were okay with Murray as the 1B at 50%…this really changes the dynamics
Personally, I wouldn't bother with Samsonov.

This is really, really bad. Solidifies what I have thought for a while now that this management group are not serious about winning, they want to win as long as it’s with their guys.

Matt Murray at even 50% retained is too much. Some connection to the soo greyhounds from 10 years ago holds no relevance today, absolute waste of cap space.

On the plus side, if Murray sucks and we struggle to make it past 1st round then Dubas is gone.

I'm sorry but you can't keep making mistakes like this as a GM and not expect to face the consequences.

This is by far the most disappointing trade by Dubas in my opinion.

Unless we got Sanderson back this thread was always going to be a cesspool lol.
So now this trade "is not bad"?

The cost to move his contract better hurt Dorion. As much as I think a healthy Murray is a real #1 option, Ottawa has 0 leverage in this trade. 50% retained + what AZ got for Kassian as a start.
Meh, yes, yes, no, no. None of them feel like enough for essentially giving Ottawa 3M+ in cap space for the next two years though.
"Meh" for a Formenton return and no for Brannstrom yet we walk out with a 3rd and 7th.

Foligno, Kadri, 13th overall/Jarvis, Murray, Mrazek, Marchment, Ritchie.

Yeah, time to wrap it up.

They’ll make us regret it.
Ceci fit right in
So did hyman

Both got rid of their choker tags and Hyman even had a solid playoffs for once

Yeah we can talk about the lack of strength in the Pacific division but end of the day Edmonton went further with Ceci, Barrie, and Hyman on their team in the playoffs than we have in 20 years. I've no doubt that unless the Pacific drastically improves there's a good chance the same fate will befall both teams.

Whats the cap-hit? How much cap-space we got now

$6.3 cap left, need 6 players still, I think? To ice a 23 man roster according to capfriendly

Matt Murray costs more money with retention than Marc-Andre Fleury.
Apparently there are 18 goalies in the NHL that have a higher cap hit than what we are paying for him and the expectation is that Campbell and Kuemper will get North of it too

We're crapping on kyle dubas not so much Matt.

And honestly deservedly so.
I get it. Honestly. I thought Dubas coulda done better. But if I'm Murray getting wind of this outrage (I'm sure he has Leaf fan friends etc word spreads) I'm not really getting the warm and fuzzies lol
