Based on rumors
Stetcher, 2026 1st for Savard @50%
Kapanen, 2nd for McCarron

😫

Skinner has a full NMC. Arvidsson is the moveable contract.
Like when they traded for Joel Edmundson that deadline a few years back?

No one is trading for David Savard, maybe they trade for McCarron, I don't know, but that's like Kapanen and a 6th.

The 1st will costs us whatever tender they want.

Here's a good breakdown of some of Skinner's problems from an actual NHL goalie in Devan Dubnyk from Oilersnation

Being able to read a play and understand where the danger is is a talent for a goalie ... it's not just a "nice to have" bonus.

Dubnyk also says the Oilers should go find an older goalie to come in and settle the team down.

Skinner has playoff pedigree? LOL now I’ve heard it all. Dude had a .883 save% in the 22/23 playoffs and a .901 save % in the 23/24 playoffs. Nice pedigree. If management doesn’t address the goaltending at the deadline then I’m boycotting the team for the rest of the season.
Gregor was texting me and said that stu actually only had two bad games in last years playoffs and in his last 15 games in the playoffs, he was pretty good!

He also mentioned that stu haters just pick and choose which stats help to trash him. Lol.

We Know management won't sell. They won't give up. We are going to add.

1. Our goalies suck.
2. Our top 6 is in need of dire help. Mcdavid is broken unless he plays with Drai.
3. We need a top 4 defensemen.
4. Our bottom 6 may need more beef.

So how do we fix this and what are the priorities?

Gregor is an imbecile and the very moment the org tells him to think differently, he will shit all over Skinner and pretend he was never a fan.

Try new management. Drastically new management. Year 9 of McDavid and we still have the same issues as day one.

I feel like if we add a top 6 forward that can shoot the puck It will help in so many ways.

1. Gets Nuge off the PP and hopefully gets the PP back to life.
2. Allows us to split Mcdrai. We literally can't right now. We don't have the wingers. (or gives us the depth to play them)
3. Sends someone down to the bottom 6 to beef it up.
4. Probably allows Nuge to be the 3C (where he belongs), putting Rico the 4C (where he belongs)
5. Most likely brings some fun back to the game for Mcdavid. Away from Drai he has nobody to make plays with.

We basically need a functioning and working better version of Jeff Skinner that the coach will like and play.

We may have been loving the Skinner signing, but we don't watch Skinner close enough so our opinions were just a fairytale. Our scouts watch Skinner close.

The reason why it was a head scratcher is because KNOBS WON"T PLAY HIM. Maybe consult with coach before you sign a guy. He's slow AF, useless if he doesn't score goals and IMO seemed like an absolute panic signing after Debrusk moved on.

I've watched a lot of Skinner and he's always been a guy with ups and downs. He's always been a guy that needs talented players around him. He's not fast north south but we already knew that. He's a good lateral skater and good in front of the net.

2 seasons ago he put up 82 points. Last season he had 46 points. This year he's on pace for 34 points. How are his numbers going down from playing on a terrible buffalo team to playing with 2 of the best players in the league?

Oh wait. He's not. Knoblauch has effectively taken a proven top 6 forward and ruined him. Sure, you could argue that he wanted to work on his defensive game, which he's done.

Rantanen, Karlsson and Binnington please...don't care if we can't afford all 3
make it work!

No sources or anything but I actually think the Oilers will add Rantanen if the Hurricanes go there.

Splash move, their kind of player, fills a hole, very low cap impact. Checks all the boxes.

I just don't see us having the assets. Other teams will be able to offer more. All we have is picks and prospects. Carolina will want to have something that can help them now.

The Hurricanes will want a lot because they gave up Necas and the cap hit this year isn't the only thing you have to consider.

He's going to want $13 million on an extension, so how do you make that work with Drai at 14, probably McDavid at 16, Nurse at 9 and Bouchard likely also is going to want 9 minimum.

I'd make a call and inquire sure, but that's going to be very difficult for the Oilers to make work.

Other contenders aren't going to be offering contributing players at the deadline either. They're all trying to add just like Edmonton and Carolina.

If anything we're better positioned to do that since we have some wingers we could potentially shed. Arvidsson seems very much like a Carolina type player.

carolina is more likely to hold rantanen till after the season and trade his rights than sell at teh deadline imo. they are a contender.

🤷

I'd be fine just adding him as a rental.

The long-term cap would be incredibly difficult.

As for what Carolina gave up, it's a sunk cost at this point. They'll get a great deal for Rantanen, but no team offering is going to care what they gave up to get him

Laughton is a 1st round pick. If a team needs to send a contract back the price will be a 1st+.

Jake Evans will likely get a 2nd round pick.

Rantanen getting moved is possible. He didn't want to be traded and doesn't think he signs with them. Thinks Necas is free now that he is having fun playing hockey.

The ask would be sky high. Like Savoie, Akey, Arvidsson, EDM 1st. Arvidsson doesn't have much value at all.

Honestly they probably would want Bouchard.

Adding Rantanen, then getting Vejmelka and Olli Maatta would be an ok deadline, I think they have the assets to do that.
