I enjoyed watching TL tonight, solid game. Kid is strong and going to get stronger. If he can develop PK skills, he's going to be on our first PK pairing with Muzz. That will make life more difficult for the opponents in front. Still early days, but he's looking good.

More reps and he will be a top 4 Dman maybe as early as next season. Keeps things very simple in his own, some people forget but Liljegren was compared to Karlsson in his draft year and projected to go 5th overall.

I'd like to see him get some PP time.

Liljegren could be rookie of the year.

No joke, I think he is that good, and has that much upside.

(edit: I did not watch the Leafs last season, the pandemic year. I really do not know if he is a rookie or not, lol. I only assume Liljegren was a rookie this year because he was benched in favour of Holl. Leads me to believe that Holl has pictures of management in compromising positions. That is the only legitimate reason why he was in the lineup.)

Needs more production. They fall for production darlings, and he is going up against guys like Seider.

If the Leafs gave him PP minutes and more of Holl's minutes as things ramp up, he could enter the conversation but it will likely be too late unless his competition all decide to suck.

Patience.

No need to put the pressure on him.

Let him play.

Earlier in the year, the same management and coach let Liljegren sit in the press box.

When Bradley Marchand tried to punch Liljegren in the face in fighting for ice in front of the net tonight, it tells us that he has arrived.

The players know who is good.

Yeah Liljegren will need to accumulate goals and assists to be in the conversation. +15 with minimal offensive production won't cut it, just how it is these days with the media.

I'd like to see him on the PP but I think Keefe wants him focusing on his own end for now, Rielly and Sandin will have PP duties this season.

Basically what I saw tonight as well in the GDT...

Lilly looks like he needs a good 10-15 game look.

No major issues in his game in the few games we've seen from him.

Defencemen his age need to keep coming back to the well when it's working for them.

Nothing offensive has stood out really but that's not really what this team needs from our back end.

We need solid d-men who can protect the house and push the play the other way, and where better to find it than an ELC prospect coming up.

He needs more games and more tests.

I believe before his D-1 and before his D season started, he was predicted to go 1 OVR.

Bobby Mac from September 2016:

"2. Timothy Liljegren: The Swede is the undisputed top defenceman in this draft and, at this point, it's not even close.
Scouts say his offensive game is far more developed than his defensive game. He is an elite skater, both in terms of speed and agility, and adept at running a power play. He is seen as both a puck mover and an offensive point producer. No one is suggesting he's the next Erik Karlsson, not by any means, but scouts say he has some of the same qualities and, therefore, has the potential to be projected as a possible top pairing defenceman in time.
Liljegren is the only prospect other than Patrick who got 10 votes from the 10 scouts as a top-10 pick."

Craig Button in the same article:
"TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button’s Analysis:

Very gifted skater who uses his feet to his advantage defensively and in transition. Smart, poised, anticipates the play, sees where to exploit opponents and can dictate play in all areas. Excellent in the defensive zone because he beats pressure, fends it off and the puck gets moving ahead quickly. Has a command of the game and he finds a way to be a contributor at critical times."

i really wish lily would get an actual chance on the PP, maybe the leafs are developing him more as the all situations brody type dman, but i think hes got so much untapped potential offensively. its a shame they wont remove rielly from the PP and give the 2 young guys a look, and now that the pp is scoring it definitely wont change lol.

Absolutely not.

He has enough ES minutes to digest, and Keefe's even giving him a PK shift or two.

Easy does it.

We need defensive defencemen first, then when they reach that level, offensive opportunity follows...

Seeing him do well makes me so happy. The kid has put in so much time and effort in the AHL, battling through multiple serious injuries. I imagine it was frustrating during that time, especially with all the talk about how the Leafs were lacking on right side D.

Glad him and Sandin gel so well. Hopefully one day the two of them can evolve to be our top pair as the others age out a bit.
