Yeah I'll probably wait it out and see. I'm ok w/ a blank in the offseason.

yeah except i'm too old and will still be confused with jack despite the enormous size difference
Back when Haula had the scoring touch of John Scott in a non-all star game I used to always get so disappointed when I saw someone headman the puck to him and realized it wasn't Jack a second later.

Just want to add - i was indifferent last year about the Gaudreau loss. I thought our forwards would be too small with him.

I think we dodged a bullet. Meier at 8.8 vs. Gaudreau at 9.5 (maybe more).

Sure - Gaudreau should be more of a point producer. But he would almost be redundant here with Jack's coming out party.

The makeup of our top 6 is more dynamic now.

I am pleased.

Fitz really didn’t f*** around. Bratt and Meier signed longterm in less than 2 weeks.
He didn't, but really we knew there had to be a resolution one way or another on both by now. Thankfully both players DID want to stay in the end and not play the whole get to FA game. What's actually more impressive are the moves around the edges Fitz continues to do - getting the pick for Severson he used to trade for Toffoli, getting anything at all for Blackwood, etc. It's a measure of Fitz's creativity and vision that even now, when by all accounts we should be all but done with big moves this offseason I can't even rule another one out.

And yeah I think we can put the salary hierarchy bullshit to an end...there's no hierarchy if two guys are getting paid more than the guy who's the supposed celling (and at least one other guy was offered above that too). He may not have wanted to pay Bratt more than Hughes simply because he didn't want to pay Bratt a number that started with 8 to begin with.

Yeah thank god Johnny Blue Jacket turned us down, I'd take Timo ten out of ten times even with what we had to give up to get him.

Unless Boqvist would somehow actually be a piece for a Hellebuyck trade he should be brought back and I don’t really see how he’d be a cap casualty. We have just over 10 mil left and the 4 RFAs probably end up like 6ish or something total. I don’t see another big addition outside of potentially goaltending and if that’s the case Vitek might end up going to other way.
We will probably add some depth defenseman, probably right handed (as you suggested actually). Hopefully someone sturdy and cheap in the mold of the Dmitry Kulikov acquisition a few years back. Someone who can help on the PK maybe.

I trust Fitz with his defenseman evaluations. He'll dig a diamond out somewhere.

Not surprising. Glad Tommy boy had the guts to do the deal anyway. Not every GM would have.
Not every GM was in our position at the deadline last year either...thank goodness we were in a playoff spot by a mile for most of the season. Maybe the mentality would have been different if we had a Panther-like season and were scratching just to get to the bubble.
