Of course Timo struggled, he was coming to a new team in-season and off an injury no less. This is part of the reason Fitz doesn't generally do deadline rental trades, Timo had the extra year and they were obviously looking to sign him long term so they were going to live with him not doing as well in the regular season last year.

This is basically Mogilny 2.0 only Mogilny wasn't a candidate to sign long-term. But he was bad his first year with the Devils then popped his second (full) year.

Hall was pretty bad year 1 as a Devil too and he had the same West-East adjustment that Timo and Timo looked miles better than him.

You’d think that after Siegenthaler got crucified when he first got here halfway though the season, people would learn not to be hasty and jump to conclusions over the performance of mid-season acquisitions.

I hope Timo goes back to 28. 96 is an ugly number and we have too many guys with 6's in their number. I legit get confused who is who sometimes and I watch just about every game. Hughes and Haula drive me nuts when they play on the same line since they have similar builds.
Yeah when Hughes had that monster hit in the playoffs I thought for all the world it was Timo cause 96 looks like 86 from afar and 86 doesn't throw hits right? 96 is the one you expect to throw a monster hit lol

It also drove announcers nuts as Haula, Jack, and Timo were constantly getting mixed up

Don't worry. We have plenty of Photoshop guys here

Excuse the bump but re-reading the part in the NOVO NJ article on Timo makes me giddy :

“When I had time to reflect, reflect on the time I had in Jersey and kind of look at it all, look at the team, look at the future of this team, the area, the fan base, all those things, to management,” Meier said Thursday. “That’s the time I realized that’s the place I want to be – and that’s the place I want to go and win the Stanley Cup.”

lol He’s an average 4th liner at best. Also likely f*** that absolute piece of shit.
ok whatever you say..... shows what you know ... played his ass off in the playoffs.. ill take him on my fourth line all day.... you can run out your guys....

He had big moments in the playoffs, like the big game 7 goal, but overall his numbers weren't great. I posted this elsewhere, but...NJ had 14 forwards play in the playoffs. Here are McLeod's ranks among those 14 at 5 on 5:

CF% 11th/14
xGF% 11th/14
high danger CF% 12th/14

Anyways, no need to de-rail the Meier thread further.

This is a general comment about the use of stats - this is what a GM or coach should be hoping for. This is what a 4th liner should do. Anything else and you've ordered your team incorrectly or your best players played poorly.

Pretty much. When you're ranking a player based on his teammates, someone's going to be near the bottom. If that's your first line, it's concerning. If that's your fourth line, you're on the right path.

oh I don't disagree at all. I just don't agree with this notion that McLeod was some sort of breakout star in the playoffs is all.
