Totally fine with this. I was expecting around $8.5 M, but the extra $300K won’t hurt us.

Happy to have both Meier and Bratt here long term, and our core locked in for the next several seasons.
It reeks of Fitz saying 8.5 and timo 9.0. Lets meet in the middle-ish.

How am I supposed to work with tweets like this popping up?

Its like your GF/wife/OF subscription sending you dirty pics during work

When the news on Toffoli came yesterday I figured Wood or possibly Bastian or Boqvist was through here. Just no room for them. As Wood was the most expensive really I figured he’s out.

Meanwhile this Meier signing is so good. The core is in place to think credibly about a Stanley Cup over the coming years. He and Toffoli together make us so much heavier next season.
I think Bastian will probably be back. Boqvist could be a casualty if we're really up against the cap, but I would think he's not due for much of a raise from last year. Bastian being injured for a pretty good stretch last year may cost him a little bit too. Maybe he gets $1.8 million. They probably give McLeod $2 million (or maybe he gets $1.8 also) and maybe Bastian does get something like $2 million? I don't think Bahl or Boqvist make much more than they did last year.
I never thought Wood was coming back here anyway
I don't think he was either.

I'm not gonna say that was already predecided by last summer, but I think it was before season's end. Well before season's end for sure.

Same goes for Graves. Though I've been skeptical since 21-22 that he was a long term guy and not just a stop gap. Kind of like Fitz's defenseman version of Marcus Johansson to Shero.

Unless Boqvist would somehow actually be a piece for a Hellebuyck trade he should be brought back and I don’t really see how he’d be a cap casualty. We have just over 10 mil left and the 4 RFAs probably end up like 6ish or something total. I don’t see another big addition outside of potentially goaltending and if that’s the case Vitek might end up going to other way.

The more and more I think of it, I think Bratt and Meier having crap playoffs (statistically) did us a favor. Before that, we were talking about 8M+ for Bratt and 9M for Meier. The 500k in cap space is the difference between a league minimum rookie on the 4th line or last pair vs someone a little more established. It's something.

yeah, if we weren't gonna win the cup

legitimately better they both looked really bad (by points, I think they were fine and great, respectively, by play)

I think there's another RHD in our future

guess the real question now is, who do i get on my blank?!?!?!

Meier? Bratt? Hughes? Other Hughes?

the only jersey i have fit to wear right now is an Elias LMAO

lol I've got 2 blanks I've been meaning to get done. One white Christmas and the other is the 2023 RR. I was at the Ranger game where Jack went crazy in the RR so that's an easy choice. I'll probably get Bratt on the other.

Problem with Meier is that we don't know if he's going to change his number back to 28 now that it's available again.

Yeah I'll probably wait it out and see. I'm ok w/ a blank in the offseason.
Having a 96 would be cooler
yeah except i'm too old and will still be confused with jack despite the enormous size difference

Nobody in here was saying Meier would get less than Hughes. Most of us however were saying Bratt would get less than Hughes. You were the only one saying Bratt was going to get 8+ and Meier was going to get 9+.

The proof is in the pudding.

OH MY GOD I thought you were done with this last week. This 'gotcha' going on a world tour.
