Add me to the Mike Gillis train.

He did a great job with the Sedin contracts and keeping the core together in Vancouver and didn’t really make any bad mistakes. Doesn’t seem like a guy that will get bullied in a contract negotiation but will hold firm to his values. His team made it to the cup finals as well and he has “experience”

dangle agrees treliving is crap lol .. woulda guessed he loved him

I'm becoming a little annoyed with the SDPN guys over this.

Dangle rage screaming that it's the same thing every spring with this team and that change has to happen and then when the architect of the team is fired he's also upset. It's one or the other dude.

Aside, other teams have been, are, and will be as "disfunctional" as the Leafs, but relatively speaking they have no media coverage and no one cares about them. We know every detail about what's going on because we're the Centre of the Hockey Universe (TM) and the spotlight is permanently pointed at us.

With the long weekend I can’t see anything getting done until mid to late next week.

One name I haven't heard mentioned is 18 year SJ GM and the guy who fleeced JFJ in the Vesa Toskola trade Doug Wilson.

He would check all the boxes.
Tbh I could have fleeced JFJ. Dude was a blind squirrel starving from lack of nuts gathered

I still think my favourite candidate to replace Dubas is Brandon Pridham and to add a veteran GM to advise him as an AGM or whatever title works. Something similar to what Calgary did with Conroy and adding Nonis, and what Minny did with adding Shero as an advisor to Guerin.

Maybe making Pridham GM and Treliving his right hand man for the time being would work? This gives the Leafs a little more experience in the front office but still make the easier transition from Dubas to someone familiar.

Maybe making Pridham GM and Treliving his right hand man while he waits for a full GM job somewhere would work?

That would probably be my preference as well - provided he was willing to handle the 'on camera's duties that come with the job.

He's always struck me as the smartest guy in the room.

And just make sure he's got a vet beside him to provide experience.

I could see Shanny being fine with that set up - certainly the least disruptive to the existing front office structures

Not a fan of them. Bunch of screaming at the camera followed by manscaping ads and sports betting props.

Hire the following for the ultimate Habs troll job

GM - Bergevin
Head Coach - Roy

I’m not sure shooting ourselves in the foot is worth trolling the habs lol

Yep Lou signed him and Dubas botched moving him. Thankfully we can now move on from the putting down Lou to prop up Dubas effort. :thumbu:

These things cut both ways and both were petty when agendas were involved.

Personally I think there is no reason to rush this GM hire. This will be the 18th GM in Leafs history.

To go from extending Dubas, to firing Dubas, to hiring the 18th GM in club history, in a couple weeks is nothing short of a dumpster fire (unless it’s a rockstar candidate ie: Poole, Armstrong, Yzerman etc)

Shanahan would have to wear that. Why would you light a match when you’re in the dumpster full of gas?

I’d rather him just have an interim GM (Shanny and Pridham). It looks more professional, especially if you come away with a very solid GM hire from being patient. It also takes some of the heat off the new incoming GM.

Whereas the narrative in Toronto media has been Rush! “Okay, you’re hired, now make massive decisions right away, oh, and by the way, you have a gun to your head”

Shanahan has been in place for 9 years, he can get a contract done.

It’s not like Dubas did any extremely heavy lifting with the contracts in place. We’re not up the creek without a paddle now.

Dubas’s template was pointing to the brinks truck, asking the agent to input the bonus package and years allowable. Pretty simple stuff (Dubas’s worst skill set imo).

Take your time, throw a fishing line into the NHL GM waters and see what comes up.

No way I’m tying my legacy to the UFA GM’s only. This is one of the most prestigious jobs in hockey.

Why is rush the only narrative in the media?
THANK YOU

I don't usually mind them, and Dangle (on the podcast at least) doesn't really scream much.

But this constant whining about the GM situation is getting out of hand. We haven't won a Cup in 56 years. Everyone knows the status quo isn't cutting it, if the goal is a Cup then change had to happen.

He also got Thornton from Bruins for some pucks and tape and Brent Burns for mostly Devin Setoguchi. Rumor has it he may be in the market for NHL employment again but he may not be interested in taking on something this big. Hope he gets a look for sure.

Is anything more recent? Would be nice to have something in the last decade.

Looking at San Jose recently, he's done a lot of bad.

I was thinking this exact thing too. Maybe shanny knows he'll lose pridham. The only way to not lose him is give him GM and trelving AGM. I don't think treliving would mind that either. Esp since he's buds with our owners lol

THANK YOU
I think it really comes down to their confidence in resigning AM and WN. If Pridham has established his own relationship with these guys and their agents and if he has been heavily involved in signings then they should have a lot of faith in him versus an outsider. If not, thats kind of a big risk, and if he gets involved early by himself and it doesn't go well it might not be something they can undo.

I would trust that their desire to put a new person in by x date is determined by successfully dealing with the NTs and that they won't take a subpar candidate for expediency. There aren't a bunch of guys who aren't available now but would suddenly pop up in a month or two. and for all we know they are doing it right away to see if there is anyone they like more than Pridham.
