The video I posted suggest Reynolds as a WR2 who's still out there who fits the Arthur Smith/Steelers mould. I wouldn't hate that.
This is the guy I have been thinking. Reynolds plus a third-round receiver in the draft.

I agree that I would feel better about the DJ trade if the new DJ is the 3rd corner and gets a restructured contract.

Draft a center and corner 1-2, sign a tackle. Not going to have an ideal roster or fill every hole.

I would think so, but until they happen kind of up in the air. Based on the number of needs they absolutely need to.
Yeah, another big question is:

Do the see Jackson as a legit starter? Im having a hard time finding any real info on the guy.

All i know is hes fast.

Yeah I think we just have to wait and see the whole picture before truly judging this trade. I think Khan has earned the benefit of the doubt so we’ll see.

One tweet I saw that kind of summed up some of my concerns said that this trade increases the likelihood that Dan Moore is the week 1 starter at tackle. Unless a trade or something happens, there aren’t great options left at WR/C in free agency so it seems like a good possibility that rounds 1 and 2 in the draft are those positions.

We’ll see.
Yes the ripple effects of this are a bit problematic. There are only so many holes you can fill in one offseason and WR now becomes a massive need and you still need so many other things. I also worry about putting so many eggs in the basket of Pickens who has been as immature and inconsistent as he has. But yeah, there is still time to improve the roster and this was clearly a dump more than it was anything else.

He’s been one of their starters. So I’m assuming, yes, he’ll be ours. How good he is after injury is another question and his cap hit is absolutely bonkers for what he is…especially factoring in the 6 mil in dead money from Johnson.

Fail to see what this has to do with the price of tea in China
It was terrible use a cap space should have traded him last season instead of extending him

Thy we’re going to cut himhe Tackles and cover s worse than Peterson and Wallace

The supposed behind the scenes is that DJ was committed to a long holdout, so having a player that will be available to play is better than not having one.

Jackson is a boundary corner. They still need a slot guy

KC is up against the cap. They couldn't afford what DJ was wanting
Dj cap hit was 10 million Snead tag number is 18 million they would have saved money this season and got under the cap before they Maholmes restructure that happened yesterday. Dj next deal isn’t 4/75 like sneads will be

Jackson was targeted and gave up 75 percent completion percentage in 2022 in 23 it was higher than both wallace and Peterson there’s a reason they were cutting him

KC still has a ton of money tied up on offense. Unlike the Steelers, who have committed heavily on the defensive side.

KC is trying to balance the other side of the ball. They need cheap offensive players. DJ wants a new deal. It's just not a match

They are paying 1 skill 2 o linemen and a qb that’s it on offense and that skill guy contract is up after 2025. Kelce probably retires

Looking at some "Best Available" lists, I really like the idea of Reynolds. Sounds like he fits the mold of what they should be looking for. Not huge upside or anything, but a solid, under the radar WR2 who's numbers could tick up getting more looks than he did in Detroit's offense.

I get the concerns about Boyd being a slot guy, but I wouldn't say no to him either. Another solid, can do everything decently well type of guy.

Other than that, it'd have to be a trade IMO.

They've gotta draft a WR, too, but how early will depend on if they can fill some of these other needs in FA.

Apparently so. According to a steelersdepot.com article, Tomlin and Colbert were interested in drafting him. And apparently the Steelers tried to trade for him last season fwiw.

I guess technically you could add Minkah (and maybe JPJ with the Claypool trade) but yikes.

My read on it is that he is a stopgap starter.

He's 28, which is starting to get up there for a corner, so they still need a longer term plan anyway. I think they'll draft one in R3 or so. That guy probably won't be ready to start right away, though, so Jackson will start this year and maybe next year. Then you can hopefully start transitioning to the drafted guy.

If a stud CB falls to them somehow, I think you've got to still consider it, but this buys them some time and patience.

Whenever I see stats like this, I'm always thinking, "Yeah, but how does that compare to the rest of the league?", but this seems extreme enough that I can assume "Not great"

Brian Thomas from LSU definitely in play at 20 now IMO
Originally I thought there's no way they pass on JPJ if he's there. Now with a new QB and 1 WR, a prima donna at that, I don't see how they don't go WR in round 1. Maybe even trade up a few spots.
I could see signing someone like CJGJ or such for his versatility, WR- rd #1, C- rd #2.

Prioritizing skill positions is part of the reason they are where they are IMO. It's time they focus on building inside-out and not outside-in.

I fully expect and hope they sign or trade for a Reynolds/Boyd to be WR2 and then draft a WR with some upside in the later rounds to be WR3.

Mostly agree but don’t have a problem going WR in R1. It’s like CB where it’s a premium position.

Because of the 5th year option a 1st round pick should almost always be OT, DL/EDGE, CB, WR, or QB IMO.
