I think DJ is a low end WR1 or high end WR2, but I'm not sure he fits with Smith's offense anyway. Smith talks about buy in from everybody and that includes WRs blocking. Pickens took a lot of flack for not blocking this year, but that's purely a mindset. If he's motivated to block, he could be a beast. With DJ, it's physical.

I agree with those saying DJ would do well in KC. Last pick in the first seems fair to me.

I was watching some Harris highlights from this year the other day and there was plenty of Pickens blocks at the start. Him going on strike definitely shouldn't be confused with not being able (and frequently willing).

And yeah, I agree that in terms of athletic profile, DJ doesn't look like a Smith guy.

Fields is risky because he could be awful. That's a trade you could regret half way into next season but there's also significant upside where you might regret not trading for him if he turns it around with some other team.

Fields does have intriguing talent. I wouldn't want him for a pass heavy team that wants to throw 35 times a game but I think he's a good fit for a run heavy coordinator like Smith. Imagine being able to pound teams with Harris/Warren and then you add Fields elite QB running ability to that. It puts the defense in a bind and Fields does have the big arm to take shots down the field off of all those running plays. He just turns the ball over too much. He needs reigned in some in that regard but I think Smith's offense can do that. It's a run heavy offense that features a relatively simple passing game with lot's of play action etc. That should help Fields.

That said, I still think we're headed for kind of a predictable boring QB room. My guess is it will be Pickett, Rudolph or Tannehill at backup and a mid round draft pick. We have two 4ths this year. Maybe that's where they take a shot on a developmental QB.

Yeah as someone who was initially pretty critical of the Arthur Smith hiring, I said this was the one potential move that could give me any kind of excitement about our chances for the upcoming season, for basically the reasons you outlined. You can still draft a run blocking mauler that fits Smith's scheme in the 1st round.

When you have Gerry Dulac and Peter King, the greatest local and national reporters, talking about how dire this QB situation is, you listen. They’re right.

You enter this season with cry baby future grocery bagger Kenny as QB1, you punt the season. HE. HAS. TO. BE. REPLACED. Rip off the frickin’ bandaid and own up to the mistake.

Yea there is definitely some smoke about this dude. I've read things from his ego and entourage being too influential to that he doesn't take football as seriously as he once did.

But if I trust anyone to manage a guy like this, it's Mike Tomlin. He's got such a great track record of dealing with abject morons. Pause at the 1:20 mark if you want to see a clown dance

I’ve heard/read his teammates in Seattle couldn’t stand him.

Apparently acted entitled as hell.

I'm wondering if we could pair Johnson and our 2nd pick next year if he would be to coax two 2nds this year out of a team. That is one very quick way to get 4 top 64 picks and we are off and running. Maybe try to back one of those 2nds up to a 3rd and recuperate a pick next year if it's that big of a deal.

I think Johnson could be a surprisingly valuable trade chip. Put him with an upper echelon QB and Johnson could go to another stratosphere.

Kahn would be my hero if he cut out the cancer.

Kc can just cut mvs and move that cap hit for DJ. They csn go all in on the 3 peat then be in cap hell in 2 seasons if they want to

Mike evans is going to want 25 million or more
dj doesn’t want to play with KP. He knows KP will kill his value

I could honestly give a f*** what DJ wants.

Dude already showed us he cares only about #1.

Most WRs don’t literally quit on their teammates in the middle of a play and fight their QBs in the locker room.

Dude is a cancer, just like AB, except one was actually exceptional, the other is this eras Jeff Graham.

They’d be fools to extend him, so trading him for anything of value before his wretched deal runs out would be a massive win.

AJ brown and Hurts argue a ton there’s plays where brown doesn’t try he doesn’t want to play in the slot.
Allen and Diggs fight
When Mason was in the huddle the wr did their job

Geno was actually sucker punched by a team mate when he was a jet

If MR becomes the starter Johnson will turn on him as well, just like he did with MT and KP.

It’s who he is and the moment things don’t go his way he turns into AB.

He’s a cancer just like AB with half the talent.

Find me another WR that watched a fumble and walked away, threw fists with his QB in the locker room, and is such a shitty teammate one of your team leaders gets into a verbal altercation with him (Minkah).

And the worst of it is that he’s just an avg whatever WR.

The “but he’s a great route runner” is the new “never had a losing season” idiotic excuse.

Dude is 100% a guy we will look back on when the dark days of the Tomlin era are finally over and start reminiscing how the team was so bad, some people thought Diontae Johnson was a good WR.

Similar passing stats, but one of them has had 1800 rushing yards the last two years. That’s a lot of 3 and outs avoided…

That's why I said "same dog different fleas"

Meaning that while Fields can run, he sucks at throwing it.
KP is more accurate than Fields, but that's a very low bar. That's how poorly Fields' accuracy is.

You're trading 1 trait (good or bad) for another. Why in the f*** would you trade assets for that?

Let’s see some stats to back up your claims that KP is more accurate than Fields. KP’s “superior” accuracy hasn’t led to an increase in passing production, so I’m calling bullshit.

I'm saying if KP is a 6 out of 10 in accuracy, Fields is a 4 or 5. Again it's not a high bar to clear or to make that claim with your own eyes.

I'm starting to wonder if you're related to Fields. You sure love him for some odd reason

I have seen Qbs in the playoffs and in the superbowl not go for a fumble. Team mates fight all the time. Most of the time nobody hears about it. Johnson is a very good wr as we have seen with decent Qb play. Kp had the most uncatchable passes thrown last season at parts. Terry Mclaurin in Washington has been complaining all season about running cardio when howell doesn’t target him

Absolutely not. Pickett can read a defense at the bare minimum. Fields is a full dumpster on a summer day in Phoenix.

And prepare for thy cvnt to be punted
Justin Fields is not the worst starting QB in the league… I mean the NFL had guys like Bailey Zappe, Tommy DeVito and Zach Wilson starting last season. This is just ridiculous him and Pickett are somewhere in the 20’s. Neither is the worst and they are a lot closer then you think

Your measure of accuracy is extremely subjective. Their passing stats are the same. Fields was an excellent passer in college. He didn’t start running until he got to the NFL.

I’m not even a huge Fields fan, I just want a real QB. My personal preference would be to sign Cousins.

KC just came off a year where they didn’t pay any big money to a receiver and won the Super Bowl… and people think they would give up a 1st round pick for a 18 million dollar diva? They will spend most of their cap on retaining Jones and sign a guy like Tyler Boyd and then probably use their first on a rookie receiver like Troy Franklin. They have no need to waste assets and cap space on DJ lol

Nah man, he’s not a very good receiver. His stats say he’s avg and his attitude says he’s a cancer.

Guess the last time he had a 100 yard game.

2023? Nope
2022? Nope

Gotta go all the way back to 2021.

Despite 130 catches and the bulk of the targets, he hasn’t managed a single 100 yard game in that span.

Once again what receiver in the league has gotten into a physical confrontation with his QB, a verbal altercation with a well respected leader and quit on his team?

Give me actual names.

This cat has massive red flags, just like AB did and many fans didn’t want to see it.

Now he’s going to cause more BS about his contract when he’s way overpaid?

Time to move on and cut the cancer out.

He played last season with the 28th best Qb we saw AB struggled without Ben here.
I gave you examples this season Allen and Diggs Brown and Hurts. Heck in the Super Bowl we saw a te push his hc things get heated when you want to win and your being held back because the guy at Qb is below average

Didn't he go like 18 games without a TD catch too?

Many of the things said about Diontae when we drafted him were true. He can run routes with the best of them. That being said, he isn't a strong target for a QB - he has had drop issues, he has quit running routes that resulted in interceptions, and for whatever reason, Kenny doesn't really mesh with him.

Pickens is a 1. If they can get a running game going, they are going to start popping off big plays to him. They need a 2 and they may be able to find an immediate starter in the draft. There are some freaks in this draft at the WR position so they could go in many directions.
