DJ doing another hold in during OTA's and camp while we install a brand new offense? Smashing!

I think he’s a very talented receiver, but if he is going to hold out trade him for a second and move on. Use the money on someone like Sneed on FA.

You’d still need a couple WRs but with the Arthur Smith offense, I think you could get by with Pickens + FAs and a draft pick.

It’s also Madden reporting this so massive grain of salt.

Wilson is going to cost league minimum for whoever signs him. He’s going to get cut by the Broncos and he’s still going to be making the guaranteed money. Any money that other teams pay him is just subtracted from what the Broncos will owe him.

Tyler Boyd might be a cap casualty if the Bengals have to franchise tag Higgins. You just know the 412 connection gets the organization all smitten.

I'm wondering if we could pair Johnson and our 2nd pick next year if he would be to coax two 2nds this year out of a team. That is one very quick way to get 4 top 64 picks and we are off and running. Maybe try to back one of those 2nds up to a 3rd and recuperate a pick next year if it's that big of a deal.

I think Johnson could be a surprisingly valuable trade chip. Put him with an upper echelon QB and Johnson could go to another stratosphere.

If they do shop him, him to Kansas City would make so much sense.

I don't need stats to tell me that Fields and KP struggle to throw a football at this level.
Same dog, different types of fleas and all that...

I've said before, if I were KC and DJ was on the market I'd feel completely fine giving up my 1. If they use it on a WR any, if he's as good as DJ that's a home run.

Mike Evans is the big fish this offseason. Doesn't seem like the Bucs are going to franchise tag him so he'll at least test FA.

Not really a fit for us but I'm sure he'll draw the attention of some contenders in the AFC.

I kind of agree, but also don't.
KC needs WR help, but most importantly they need CHEAP WR help and a guy on a rookie contract is the way to go vs a WR that has held out twice in 3 years due to feeling underpaid.

They need to pay some guys on defense and they'll be strapped with some tough decisions soon enough.

Steelers are likely going to target a big-bodied WR since I anticipate they'll run a ton of PA stuff with Smith as OC.

I would have been happy to trade Johnson for a 2nd before anyone even considered the idea he might try to hold out.

If he wants that I'll absolutely trade him where ever.

I also wouldn't want to sacrifice picks next years for picks this year as next year could be a year you trade up for a QB if you can.

edit: Also, dunno how reliable this is, but...

Similar passing stats, but one of them has had 1800 rushing yards the last two years. That’s a lot of 3 and outs avoided…

Kc can just cut mvs and move that cap hit for DJ. They csn go all in on the 3 peat then be in cap hell in 2 seasons if they want to

Mike evans is going to want 25 million or more
dj doesn’t want to play with KP. He knows KP will kill his value

Fair point. I can't find actual 3 and out stats, but Chicago were 10th in the league for 3rd down conversion rate at 41.18%. Fields was part of that as 42.44% of 3rd downs where he ran or passed hit 1st down. Pickett was 35.93%, below Pittsburgh's percentage which ranked 21st (assuming I can trust teamrankings.com).

That said... Pickett's stat last year there was 43.75. I haven't broken this down by down distance, but overall, Pickett should be avoiding as many 3 and outs...

I still want to know what the definition of success is to those who don't like Pickett. I want to have concrete goal posts so we get closure to this debate.

I think DJ is a low end WR1 or high end WR2, but I'm not sure he fits with Smith's offense anyway. Smith talks about buy in from everybody and that includes WRs blocking. Pickens took a lot of flack for not blocking this year, but that's purely a mindset. If he's motivated to block, he could be a beast. With DJ, it's physical.

I agree with those saying DJ would do well in KC. Last pick in the first seems fair to me.

If we assume that’s not total BS from Johnson, Wilson’s ego is way too big to compete for a starting job or be a backup I think. He’d be the cheapest option if they’re looking for a new starter, but also probably one of my least favorite options.

Everything I’ve read about him is that he sucks even though his numbers last season were decent.
Wilson is kind of like Big Ben was in 2020 and 2021. Ben still knew how to play the position good enough to be somewhat productive (33 TD, 10 INT and 22 TD and 10 INT) but the dynamic playmaking ability that made him special was long gone. The same is true of Wilson. He can still execute an offense but he's not athletic enough anymore to be much of a playmaker.
Justin Fields should come to Pittsburgh. "Worst starting QB in the league" is hyperbole and a more appropriate description of Kenny Pickett than Fields.
Fields is risky because he could be awful. That's a trade you could regret half way into next season but there's also significant upside where you might regret not trading for him if he turns it around with some other team.

Fields does have intriguing talent. I wouldn't want him for a pass heavy team that wants to throw 35 times a game but I think he's a good fit for a run heavy coordinator like Smith. Imagine being able to pound teams with Harris/Warren and then you add Fields elite QB running ability to that. It puts the defense in a bind and Fields does have the big arm to take shots down the field off of all those running plays. He just turns the ball over too much. He needs reigned in some in that regard but I think Smith's offense can do that. It's a run heavy offense that features a relatively simple passing game with lot's of play action etc. That should help Fields.

That said, I still think we're headed for kind of a predictable boring QB room. My guess is it will be Pickett, Rudolph or Tannehill at backup and a mid round draft pick. We have two 4ths this year. Maybe that's where they take a shot on a developmental QB.
