Signing Wilson makes a ton of football sense. I simply don't like the prick so as a fan I don't like it. But he's clearly an upgrade on Pickett and the cheap contract basically makes it no risk. I just hope we draft a QB so I have someone to hope for in the future.

Love sat behind a GOAT, so this isn’t even close to comparable.

You don’t bring in a guy for “competition” if you truly believe in your QB.

If KP doesn’t win the starting job, they need to move on after next season and start the process all over again.

Just read a blurb from Madden that RW has his own office and doesn’t go in the locker room… that has to be BS… right?
This happened in Denver before Payton got there. When Payton came in he was sure to nix that

I don't see how anybody could see getting a qb who actually throws td's for league minimum is anything but a massive positive. This is a better situation for RW than Denver too, imo. The Broncos were truly a terrible team and Wilson isn't good enough to carry a bad team.

The Steelers run game and defense should take some pressure off of him. He also has a lot to prove at this point. He should be motivated.

Always funny how deals are agreed to minutes after the ‘tamper’ window opens
It hasn’t even opened yet. Still another hour. The only deals that can be actually agreed on are dudes that got cut.

But, yea there’s been a couple that are definitely tampering that I’ve seen. So I’m not sure how that works, haha. Unless maybe the team gives approval? I dunno.

Hate the Wilson move from a direction and drama perspective but I also get it. He’s better than Tannehill, Rudolph, Mitch, etc etc and costs a mil vs 5-10M. I would say Baker is comparable and he’s making $30+ mil next year (age aside). And I actually think Russ is still solid to good as far as QBs.

If they use the savings wisely it gets better.

I just think it’s brutal for finding a future QB and doesn’t get them closer to SB contention. Whether it’s Pickett or another draft pick, idk how this helps you get here. Any KP struggles at all and the calls for RW will be loud (assuming KP is even the starter). You could potentially bottom out for with a struggling Pickett too, and get a high pick. I don’t see them losing more than 8-9 games with Wilson on the roster.

I’m the most confident in our FO out of any part of the org but idk about this.

To reiterate this point, the Wilson signing definitely indicates they/FO are ready and willing to move on from KP. Which has nothing to do with KP, himself. It's more the fact that it's critical in the NFL to move on from 1st RD QB's quickly vs holding onto hope.

He's such an agent mouthpiece it makes me cringe whenever he posts anything, but that said, this is pretty significant.

Cap era you can only pay 1 WR if you have a franchise QB making big money.
Bengals are smart to only give 1 WR what he asks for. Steelers generally operated the same way with Ben eating up their cap

Florio at the 5 min mark is having a tough time accepting that the Steelers beat writers are all clowns with no real inside information

I'll disagree here. Higgins is a #1 on many teams and is far more valuable to that offense than what they can get in trade. It'd be a major step back if they lose him.

Hard to say who is driving the bus: Chase or Higgins.
Higgins wasn't healthy last year and the Bungs didn't make the playoffs, but Burrow was also hurt.

So it's hard to draw conclusions about who is pulling the lever. But my point remains is that you can only pay 1 stud WR and the Bengals picked Chase.

It legitimately amazes me that all Pittsburgh beat writers across all sports are as bad as they are. Like you’d think at least one would have some inside info but nope.

The next time a local writer breaks news might be the first. Instead we’ll see “Steelers sign X per sources” an hour after the Steelers officially announce it.

I just can't understand any of the criticisms I've seen towards adding Wilson, and I'm someone who still hasn't given up on Pickett yet.

The only downside is if Wilson is the backup and causes drama because of it, but it's a 1 year deal. At his salary, you can easily cut him if he's causing too many problems or just let him walk after the year.

The more I think about it the more I want the Steelers to spend their FA money at C and S. As much as I like JPJ.

Focus on drafting OT, CB, DL.

You can just get a top C or safety for so much cheaper than the premium positions. It’s like taking ILB and RB high in the draft; not prudent.

Yeah for sure. Just not sure that’s the right move. I would’ve let KP sink or swim this year.

My thought is that he had a few but that the Steelers are his best case for starting and starting for a good team. He met with the Giants but they have Daniel Jones making big money so he is going to be given the start until they fully flesh out his potential, and they kinda stink.

Plus Art Smith's offense fits him very well.

And obviously, he wasn't given the starter's role out of the gate:

Not officially. Either this is a 2022 competition all over again, or it's a real competition and why didn't Wilson get a better offer?

It's almost definitely 2022 all over again though.

Not Sure Philly and Miami will probably pay both Smith and Waddle next year while paying their Qb.
Seattle had lockett and metcalf which is what Wilson has here

Yeah, it's insane to me that anyone would complain about this signing. Unless you still somehow believed in Kenny Pickett being the guy.

For $1.2m the bar is literally on the floor.

Said it before, but it really is refreshing that Khan seems wildly more proactive in addressing this teams flaws. Kenny's performance the last 2 years was simply unacceptable.

I’m fine with the signing, I just dread a scenario where Wilson plays mediocre, doesn’t come back, and they decide to go with KP in 25.

I really want the issue with KP resolved this season so they can move on or not.

I’ve already witnessed the QB carousel in the 90s and early 2000s, and it’s a hopeless situation.

I just want them to draft and develop a young guy who can be their long term answer, not keep dumpster diving like they have been doing with MT and now Wilson.
