No formal promotion yet because they can't find a job description that makes sense and that I'm qualified for. Related: both of my coworkers are a hot mess right now and there's a non-zero chance one or both is fired or "encouraged to resign" tomorrow. So not only will I be director, eventually, but I'll have to build my own team because I'll be the only guy in the department.

Will your entrance music be Bjork's "Army of Me"?

First, I love that idea. Maybe I can get my kid on the payroll to walk around with that song on repeat before I enter a room.

Second, it basically has been since school started. One guy called out sick 4 of the first 6 days. The other guy's has been with us for over 2 years and still makes daily detail errors and mistakes that cost us big time.

And more unrelated, I've been playing Bomb Rush Cyberfunk on my YT channel lately and there a song that is super late-90s bjork-y. I kind of love it.

Adding YT track, @Chainshot

I have hired all of the 8 people that report to me. I’ve been in the position for 15 months. It might’ve been fun if it’s been a Big Bang approach, but it’s just been constant people change.

If you do get to do it, I hope you get to do it all together so you can really benefit from that boot camp “forming” stage … like the Golden Knights did.

Well folks, my wife and I welcomed our first born into the world early Wednesday morning. We are so very excited and tired lol.

Perhaps this means no more drunken posts on HFboards lol
Drunken posts will be replaced by sleep deprived posts. I wonder which ones will be better?

Congrats!

Today was very bittersweet. Started out great, went and fed the masses. Last week was whole chickens and rice, this week bought out the basil pork stall. Negotiated basically 120 servings at 80 cents each, then filled out the rest of the order with 40 pad Thai. I had to send 4 girls from each of the bars to bring back the bags of plastic trays.

The bad part was I got to see 3 new girls starting a not so great life. Twin sisters and their cousin were recruited by their sister to come work the bar. 3 innocent 18yo going to be swolled up by Pattaya, fortunately for them the Burinam mafia is strong so they'll watch out for them. I understand why, money is easy when you have little education but I still feel bad. I'll have to spend more time here until they know the ropes as 'messed up' talking Thai to them so all night they've been looking and asking for my approval

Amazing work from your wife, and I’m sure you did your best during the birth :)

What sort of human child did you guys create? How did it line up with what you thought would happen? I truly didn’t care what genders we had, but when I had a daughter first I realised I’d had this assumption there’d be an older brother, younger sister scenario.

We had a girl which is what we both wanted. Lily Mae.

My wife absolutely was amazing from first contraction until birth was only like 10 hours. Shes already out and about back on her feet. Couldn't ask for more.

So the tests came back for my dad late last week. It appears the tumor on his heart is actually cancer, so the prognosis isn't great. It's stupidly rare to get what he has, but that isn't really much of a comfort for anyone at this point. He's back at the elmira hospital after Rochester sent him out. Got to have the fun experience of calling the ambulance for my dad he couldn't stand up to get in the car to go to the hospital late monday night. He is currently awaiting a bed at the cleveland clinic because if anyone can do anything for him at this point, it will be them.

Have made 3 trips between Allentown and Elmira in the last two weeks. Likely headed to Cleveland once they have a spot for him.

Sorry to hear that Doak. Hope this works out the best that it can for all of you. Best wishes for your dad.

Hoping that things go as well as possible for him. Sending out some positive vibes to you and your family.

That sucks man. Regardless of the end result, I hope it goes easy for all of you. Cancer can suck a big fat one
