Proud of the boys tonight comeback from 3-0 to make this a shoutout game vs the best team in east 2nd in the league is something against a really good goalie this year. Nice show up from Pinto and Giroux tonight. But what am watching right is the tremendous growth of Tim Stutzle.

This guy is on 12 game pts streak and is on each games he is till now the best player bar far on this team and will be for years to come.He using his High IQ more right now ,like on the late equalizer , he really shows up for every games and play with heart. If we can give him another offensive threat along with Brady his production will rise to contend with top 10 scorers in this league for sure. Off season goal number 1 for Staois no matter where we end up.With High caliber offensive line this team make the playoff every year as they have good role player already.

Setting aside the rest of the game, I need someone to explain to me the logic of putting Batherson out first in the shootout -- or heck, *AT ALL* -- instead of Pinto, the guy who routinely scores short-handed and was on fire tonight.

In order to make the playoffs we need to go get a guy who can replace Perron in the top-6. I know it's probably not gonna happen, but I don't see us sneaking in there with both him and Giroux on the top lines.

Agreed.

And to be a legit contender we need another winger alongside Stutzle.

@Stutzlaaa's lines in another thread were solid. Add another top 6 and:

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Norris
XXXXX-Pinto-Batherson
Perron-Greig-Giroux
Cousins-Gregor-Amadio

I really don't understand why the hell we don't try this. Greig is also significantly better down the middle for now.

Trade Perron for like Burakovsky or something and we are back with serious depth.

Character loss. That comeback was impressive. I thought at 3-0, they were done and I was already looking forward to the next game. They almost won that in the OT which was an almost "good enough for me" moment. Happy that it ended this way with at least one point.

Now if the gang can just figure out how to translate that down-3-comeback energy into show-up-at-puck-drop energy, they'll be all set
Yeah and it’s not like it was just a notch or two difference. They played night and day way better the last half.

I was so pissed at 3-0, what a character comeback and possible season saver

Biggest period they have played in 8 years - this game will be the turning point in the Travis Green era.

Down 3-0, get a point. Down 4-3 late and get a point.

These guys are studs - what a comeback. They showed so much maturity, if DJ Smith was coaching we lose this game 6-2.

And to Brady Tkachuk - you’re a stud. Fight Tom Wilson and score the goal to get to OT. STUD

Tough point to give up. They both deserved better and they didn't.

Not getting a point at this time of year can be crippling as we've already seen.

Delay of Game, Too Many Men, some zany plays led to some huge opportunities.

A full PP in OT? That Batherson pass will be remembered as the games get fewer. Oof.

True, but being down 3-0 on the road, we must remain positive getting a point.

If they can beat Chciago, that's 5 out of a possible 6 before coming home. I'd take it.

After a shitty 1st period, they rebounded & started playing better & had a back & forth 3rd period. Washington is the best team in the East with the best goal scorer in NHL history & they have taken them to overtime twice in the last few mths.

When this team is healthy they can play with anyone, they just need to start clicking, they need consistent goaltending & everyone to play to their potential together at the same time time. They seem to be just a player or two away from taking that next step. Hopefully, as they approach the end of the season is when everything comes together & they start playing like we know they can.

The 1st goal was goalie interference I don’t give a f*** what the NHL says, he skated right into the blue paint and stopped the goalies movement. Green made the right call, the NHL did not.

But the team bounced back and what an effort - this group is special to come back twice like that. Studs

It also looked to me like he pushed Jensen into Ullmark, is that also not goalie interference?

If deliberately skate into the blue paint and you stop a goalie movement that’s goalie interference - also slamming someone’s face into the ice and intending to injure them when you’ve already been suspended 4 times deserves a reduction - the NHL doesn’t want Ottawa to make the playoffs but we will anyways.

Boo Gary Bettman and their Yankee office

I initially thought it was GI, but looking at the replay it seemed like Ullmark's leg went under the Caps players rather than being obstructed by it, and they likely deemed that the contact wasn't sufficient to prevent Ullmark from establishing his position.

In the end, we bounced back and tied it, we didn't lose because of that call, we lost because we couldn't put them away with a PP in OT and lost the coin flip that is the shootout. I really don't see why we have shootouts with 3v3 OT, just create some sort of rule against the regroup teams do where they bring it out of the OZ and run the OT till someone scores.
