They looked pretty gassed last night. 3 in 4 with travel takes a toll, it happens to all teams.
They were playing strictly on skill.
But in wrapping it up, who cares about losing 1 point when it is Trade Deadline Week?

Yes, Mo hasn’t had a good year.. But Jake Gardiner at his lowest would cost us playoff series’. Mo has always upped his game when the intensity raises.Barely anyone criticizes Mo at this point. Astonishing. He is far worse than Jake Gardiner at his lowest.
Still should have won if not for two bad goals. They were playing strictly on skill.

I do cause tanev and a bunch of plugs on the right side was never a recipe for success and anytime lily was elevated in the line up he played better it was always a dumb move to not give the player a chance instead of having 3 replacement level players in your line up that’s what the Marlies are for id rather have Benoit timmins and hakinpaa gone with rifai and lily still with the team none of those players are as good as lily is I hope yesterday gave a clear description of thatThe trade made sense and I don't think they regret it nor they should, but kind of funny the rumors they are looking for a RHD after trading one away.
Hes on the top pair and I’m not sure I get how bad that makes the sharks Hes been on our top pair and we’ve gone on heaters so I’m not sure I agree with what your sayingOther than blowing a two goal lead and losing to the worst team in the league I thought they played well.
Liljegren had a good game. That's about the second one he's ever had. Him being a top four defenseman on San Jose tells us all how bad that team is.
Of course the Leafs lost.
Wouldn't surprise me if they keep losing too. The annual post All-Star game skid. Just when you think they've got it in the bag they drop seven of ten.
SInce there was no All-Star game this year I'm really hoping that doesn't happen.
The Leafs looked good tonight in a losing effort of what should've been an easy win. Like me in a tuxedo at a singles bar. Dress up a loser all you want it still doesn't hide the fact he's a loser.
Oh well you can't win them all I guess.
Says who ? He looked pretty comfortable against us he was breaking the pucc out of our zone something that’s said he has trouble with he was making the right play deflecting passes taking the body I was hyper focused on him he looked solidThey’re trying to win a playoff series or two and he wasn’t going to help them.
Gardiner was tasked with playing the other teams top lines not mo I could only imagine the swimming he would be doing if he was in his role rielly cant play d at all Gardiner could he just should have been in riellys role and rielly shoulda been on the bottom pairYes, Mo hasn’t had a good year.. 6 on target, 5 missed, 5 blocked - basically the same as Matty.Outside a couple annoying breakdowns the Leafs came on pretty strong, just fish eyed tonight, nothing hit the net.
Willy was on a tear but musta been double digits shooting wide.
SJ got pretty lucky whatever
They were playing strictly on skill.

15 shot attempts - 4 blocked, 5 missed, 6 saved. He was on the rifle range, but shooting blanks - same as Willy (except in the SO).
Maybe but every team has these games over the course of the season. With the race being this tight if we lose the division by one point, we might look back on this one as being the game we let slip.
I wouldn't mind him a bit farther out, but absolutely Knies does a much better job of screening and causing chaos. We also still need a shot from the point instead of Marner, who wasn't even hitting Matty and Willy right for one-timers.Knies really should be the go to net-front guy on the PP. But this team refuses to scale back Tavares’ role on the team. Same was true last year with Bertuzzi. We have better net front guys and yet John ends up there somehow.
In a way, tanev being injured is lowkey a blessing in disguise. It really exposes our lack of depth on defense which will force Treliving to make a trade before Friday. He has to make two big moves this week to get a second line centre and a right- handed top 4 defenseman.I don’t really care who it is, but the Leafs desperately need to trade for a right defenseman (like f***ing always, God forbid we solve it in the off-season for once in our lives) so that Rielly-OEL never happens again. Completely embarrassed against a terrible Sharks team.

Rather than every other 1 point they've lost?
I might think of this as 1 point they stole.
Any team can beat anybody in this league. The logical conclusions of the predictions are not always respected, that’s why they play the games. At least the Leafs got a point out of it.With the race being this tight if we lose the division by one point, we might look back on this one as being the game we let slip.
Yeah that was pretty bad. They needed better puck/player movement from all of them. They all just pretty much stood in the same spots and any time it went near Nylander he just seemed to wildly shoot it.The loss to SJ itself doesn't bother me, they just won 5 straight, they are still 1st in the Atlantic, they gained a point on Tampa.
Good teams lose games and sometimes a bad team pulls one out that's fine.
What DOES bother me and what makes the COMPLETELY unacceptable is they had a full 2 minute PP in OT.
You get a full 2 minute PP in OT you win that game.
They didn't try hard enough in OT
He wouldn’t be playing against the Leafs in the playoffs. We’ve seen him against playoff competition and he was too slow.Says who ? No they didn't.That was brutal, and then Tavares is standing off to the side not even attempting a screen.
They didn't seem to have a plan whatsoever.
Wouldn't call it that, they have played a lot of hockey since coming back from the tournament. 6 games of hockey in 10 days. -- both of them being in segments of 3 games in 4 days.I mean, it's the same type of complacency and lack of killer instinct that has been synonymous with this team for over five years.
So, yeah...

I keep seeing that stat as though it was a terrible disadvantage for the Leafs. They're facts.
The Leafs were playing their 3rd game in 4 nights on a travelling back to back... and got 5/6 points and are now flying to Vegas to play again.
They got the most back to back's in the NHL this year, it's a rough schdule and this month is the worst. April is better in terms of rest. It doesn't help that our 3 most important players were all playing in the 4 nations while other teams were resting for 2 weeks as only 4 countries were included.
