I'm constantly baffled at just how Tampa is able to have as much success as they have with the way they operate. I'm come to appreciate the way they develop talent and get the most out of guys on a shoestring budget.

They make bets on guys who have above average contact ability and above average power. These players often get overlooked by other teams because they aren’t typically great/elite at any one facet.

You get enough of these types of hitters and some of them will put it together for great seasons while the others hit .270 for a .760 OPS.

They also draft and develop pitching well.

They’re annoyingly good at this.

Jays could have a 6 man rotation which would help ease the innings of the starters.

I'm pretty impressed with 87-88 in his first start considering he normally only sits around 90. That a promising start.

Command is always the last thing to come back so if he's already dotting corners then I wouldn't even care about a bump from that velo. Just give us some Rich Hill type production

Good point. I think his command was going there towards the end before he had surgery.

I suspect that he won't have a long leash. If it does not go well it could be a short stay with the big club.

Seems premature but if the slider is slidering like it should then you might as well use those bullets back in the majors now.

At least the Tigers are one of the more undisciplined teams in the league, but if he struggles the media and fans will be on it fast.
