If that us what it takes to get things moving in the right direction, then the ownership needs to find their balls and fire Poile and Trotz. Causal fans are not going to come to the games to see uninspired play and blow outs.

Oh give me a break. How many Cups have Poile and Trotz won here? How many playoff rounds? This team is in complete disarray and are playing awful hockey. You cannot live in the past and be afraid of making a change. You have to take a risk.

You totally missed my point. Its not just the players or the coachng staff and GM Its the entire group. What im saying to most that have been on the coach and GM is there is more to it than that. People are going to lose favorite players and kids that were being groomed will be looked at as well. If theres a change in GM and I think there should be now Trotz will go too. If its going to happen and Fenton is the guy they better do it soon. Hes getting a hard look from Buffalo, in fact hes in the final three from what have read. If DP goes and Fenton is not promoted he leaves anyway. So all in all the whole organization changes and players as well. It will take a couple years to become competitive, then again the current team is a couple years away as well.

I believe if we could make a couple of moves, even if we keep Weber, We could be ready next year for a playoff run. I know I have been a fan of trading Weber but what if we build around or strong points Weber,Jones,Rinne and make other players available like Josi,Wilson,Legwand,Gaustad,Klein etc....
Team could not be much worse than we have now. Bring up Watson and Sissons next year if ready add around them along with Hornqvist,Fisher,Forsberg and others. Look at Detroits defense it has no really really good pieces like Weber and if Rinne comes back healthy we could be looking at a cup run before Rinne goes out of his prime.

Well the offence is broke. And as many have pointed out the D is less than we have expected its not just the loss of Pekka. Something is not just right in the hockey world right now. Whoever made the decision not to sign a serviceable back-up should be let go in the morning. In the last 8 games they have given up 35 goals... Yikes , This is inexcusable 4.375 GA since Pekka went down..... While only scoring 17 or 2.12 GPG. The Haw game tomorrow will be demoralizing. So get ready for it.

Pittsburgh Ast GM Jason Botterill was granted permission to talk with Buffalo.

Has Fenton got that far, to talk with Buffalo yet? I really hope we are able to keep Fenton here.

Outscored 19-2 in the last 4. Is that the worst we've ever done in a 4 game stretch?

Not sure I wanna look.

EDIT: I knew I didn't wanna look. First of all, it's only 17-2 in the last four. BUT, secondly, it's the worst GD over a four game stretch in franchise history (-15). We did have four stretches of -14 prior: Twice in October of 2009, once in October of 2007, and once all the way back in January of 1999.

Here's what I think is negative about winning Saturday: I'm afraid it masked our need for goaltending, which I firmly believe we still have. I think it's clear that Mazanec is more reliable than Hutton, but that shouldn't be confused with us not needing a goaltender anymore.

Or at least his passion. Our guys looked defeated after that second goal. No fight at all.

And it would nice if we could learn to ****ing pass the puck to each other! So many missed passes along with some brain fart moments where we conveniently passed the puck to the opposition. If I were a coach I would do passing drills till the guys hands bled.

Here's ultimately the problem

Anaheim 26 17 6 3 37 16 1 2 9-0-1 8-6-2 80 65 +15 5-3-2 Won 2

San Jose 23 15 3 5 35 14 1 4 7-1-2 8-2-3 79 52 +27 5-2-3 Won 2
Colorado 22 17 5 0 34 17 0 0 9-3-0 8-2-0 69 45 +24 6-4-0 Won 3
Minnesota 24 15 5 4 34 12 3 3 10-1-2 5-4-2 64 55 +9 8-1-1 Won 2
Los Angeles 24 15 6 3 33 11 4 1 8-3-2 7-3-1 64 51 +13 6-1-3 Lost 2
Phoenix 23 14 5 4 32 10 4 2 9-1-2 5-4-2 78 74 +4 6-2-2 Lost 2
Vancouver 25 12 9 4 28 11 1 3 5-5-2 7-4-2 65 65 0 3-4-3 Lost 1

All of these teams are better than the Preds. I watch a lot of hockey and I don't just mean Preds hockey. All of these teams are significantly deeper than us, faster than us, more talented than us, and are getting better goaltending than us on a consistent basis. One of these teams won't make the playoffs, dunno which, but we won't be in the top 8 in the West.

Frustration: Consistency and scoring won't come until after we have a new head coach behind the bench.

Fear: Consistency and scoring won't come even after we have a new head coach behind the bench.

Wait, are fans of this team thinking this was going to be a playoff squad? Honestly curious.

TBH, I don't think we really knew, under the new playoff system. We figured we'd be able to challenge for fourth in the Central, but not sure if that would give us a playoff spot.

Honestly, I believe we can. We just need more consistency. We've beaten some of the best teams in the league, and even some of our losses we played remarkably well, both marks of a good young team.

Rinne going out hurt and some of our laspes in transition have hurt. The latter is correctable and lately it looks like we're doing a better job. We still breakout as good as any Predators team I've seen and we're cycling the puck as well as we ever have.

As far as speed goes, this might also be the fast team we've had. Bourque, Stalberg, Legwand, Cullen, Klein and even Jones can all fly. Even our grinders Hendricks and Nystrom have good speed.

There are going to be a lot of games were we the breaks are beating us, and finding consistency on offense is going to be a season long struggle, but yeah, I think we can sneak in, if we can continue to correct some issues.

If we can stay at .500 or a game above 500 until Rinne comes back, I predict we sneak in 8th.

I think Colorado is going to have an epic meltdown (that may be beginning)

I also see 1 of Phoenix or Minny to stumble , putting us in position to take a PO spot

ALG, step away from the kool aid...

Team just needs to play at a slightly better pace than they have thus far to be in the 94-96 point range. While the top 8 seeds are all on track to exceed 100 points, it would be fairly surprising to see it actually play out that way. There's a chance, though I'm not incredibly optimistic being 8 points out already at this stage.

We've been shutout out 6 times so far this season, which is on pace for the NHL record.

Columbus holds the all-time NHL record being shutout 16 times in 2006-07. Our current pace is 18.

Throughout last night's game, two older gentlemen (one of which was wearing PREDS gear and the other sounded like attending his first Preds game) kept mentioning how there were never any gold jerseys in the slot or close to the net when Nashville had the puck in their zone. Stals has mentioned how the offensive system here is like no other he's ever played on in hockey. If such observations are this glaring to fans and players, I'm wondering when THE HEAD COACH will catch on that IT'S JUST NOT WORKING.?????

CG, I've noticed the same thing for years. Three forwards behind the red line with no one in front of the net. It's mind numbing because if we win the puck, there is no one to pass to if the defense of the other team is doing their job. It's even funnier when you see your grinder line all going to the boards and no one going to the front of the net.
