Defensive, good 5v5 production, excellent pker, high motor, good on Pick retrevial and turnovers machine ?

Points are not everything, you need those players in a cup winning team.
Yeah you need those players but most teams already have one or more and very rarely is a 1st + traded for them

Alright we can keep him then. No need to trade him for anything other than overpayment. He’s young and cost controlled..

The thing we dont appreciate here is That, Lek fit a definite role. And he is elite at it. The same way danault was. It not His fault we dont have a 1c or 1d .. he is a 3rd Line Winger an a great one, let appreciate that

I don’t think it’s as much clickbait as the Habs brass spreading rumours to try and drive price up. ‘Oh a bunch of teams have called about kulak and lehkonen’ when in reality maybe none did. Same as a realtor saying they have a ton of viewings to get you to put in an offer, when really they’ve only had 1. You.

It would make sense to me if I were a GM ‍♂️

This is hilarious.

Rumors on TSN and in newspapers and on twitter don't "drive up the prices" for players. Players that are being shopped around almost always have their agents involved and while the full details of trade offers may not be fully known, it's not exactly a secret when teams are discussing certain players, for the most part.

There's zero chance that an NHL GM would be led to believe, by Darren Dreger, that there's all kinds of chatter around a player when there isn't. Agents are almost always the source of leaks of real information, and, quite often, are the source of false information, and its not too difficult for General Managers to tell the difference.

You need to pay attention more, son. Literally happens all the time. ‘Put it out there that we are looking for this’

Yeah you guys definitely need to keep your 3rd liner who’s about to be UFA in 1.5 years because of?
Why will he be a UFA in 1.5 years? He’s an RFA at end of this year. We could sign him for 3-4 years if we want. He’s elite defensively and works very hard. If we can turn it around quickly he would be helpful in the POs. Why would we give him up for some 3rd round pick who likely won’t make the team?

Absolutely no chance Drouin is traded for a 1st +. Before this season no one would have taken him for free. Retain half and you might get a 3rd

But isn't this almost always the case with decent players that have bad contracts? Nobody wants them when they have 3/4 years left. With only 1/2 years left, the commitment is much lower, especially midway through the season.

With that said, if Montreal wants real value for Drouin this year they'll need to retain a good bit, or wait until the deadline next year.

Buddy hardly has 50 pts over the last 3 seasons, doesn't play D, turns over the puck, makes bad decisions, super streaky, soft as hell, heavily sheltered, puck hog, barely shoots....

He's not the type of player teams are looking to add in general. At best, he should be sheltered in your middle 6 + PP time. Ennis has been a 40pt player in Ottawa, doesn't mean he brings anything to a good team.

I would love to see it click for him but he has shown almost no growth in his game imo. Super flawed and just really not good in most facets of the game. He has too many nights where he's one of the worst players on the ice.
He’s not your friend.

As a Habs fan I'd rather just keep and re-sign him to an extension and dump others if that's the return. He's only 26 and is a very underappreciated player for Habs by too many Habs fans. He would be good to keep around for the younger players IMO.

I agree. Lehkonen is a solid roster player. No reason to trade him unless someone overpays. I’m not saying I would do it for a 2nd and 4th, I was just saying that is probably his trade value.

I can see the appeal of Drouin. He's a relatively "cheap" piece to gamble on, who can actually be a significant difference-maker offensively in the right situation.

Kulak is the epitome of a "deadline depth defenceman" acquisition that usually doesn't matter.

Lehkonen is a weird on though. Like...he'd be a good target to add as a Top-9 versatile Winger. But he's not the type that typically garner a lot of value or interest at the deadline. He's not really a "specialist". He doesn't do anything particularly well. So interest in him seems a bit surprising to me, Even if he might be the best bet of the bunch,

I would take Drouin on the Leafs in a heartbeat provided some retention. We're also likely losing Kerfoot as well. If the play sticks where Matthews, Marner and Nylander are all on separate lines, then Drouin could be an interesting fit on the second or third line beside Tavares or Nylander where there's multiple scoring threats for 3 lines. Also I am eager to see him in a more offensive based team and he strikes me as someone who will fulfill his original potential at the draft later in his career when he realizes his personal faults as a player.

Lol. Even if he was, I'd be partial enough to admit that buddy stinks.

Lehkonen contributes at both ends of the ice. Very smart defensive player, very responsible. He's the only guy who I think would actually play night in night out on pretty much every team in the league.

Drouin with retention? Curious to hear your low ball offer

No need for the passive aggressiveness. The retention comment needed to be there as the Leafs are tight against the cap and I don't think he is currently worth a first round pick, at least without said retention. That's why I asked what the ask would be from HABS FANS from what the Leafs currently have to offer.
