I honestly didn't mind 24. It had its flaws but I thought the game was getting better. Seriously considering on purchasing the new NHL this weekend.

To the people who have played NHL 25, is this game worth purchasing or not?
With the updated franchise mode, I did. Gameplay is good, franchise mode got much better.

I’d buy it again for 10 bucks. Anything above that is just a rip off.

It’s God awful and I hardly play it anymore and I usually play from release till April/May. I’ve only played HUT so I can’t say anything about the other modes.

The menus are still a little laggy.
Are you on PS or Xbox? The menus have not been this laggy on PS, ever. Can’t believe they’d even release it like this.

Menus aren’t laggy on Xbox either. Gen Z just can’t sit through a 15 second load screen.

It’s mostly in HUT. Seems like it has problems loading the dynamic content so whenever they add new content it’s horrendously slow.

Might add that I’m on a 1 Gbit fiber connection and have no problem whatsoever with dl speed or ping.

I have never played HUT, so that might explain our differing experiences.

Why is skating backwards in EASHL broken? Skating in mud here compared to the forwards. And that's with a small two way D with backskating perk and maxed out speed/agility/acceleration.

Skating forwards will always be faster than skating backwards. Even in real life. Make your pivot early to stay in front of a puck carrier.

Played D for 15 years. The pivot is taking way too long in this game. Feels like we are back to that BS in what was it, NHL 16? The "new skating engine" where you just stopped dead in your tracks.

Do you have a good grasp of the shift key animations in this game? If you give your guy decent agility and speed, turning around should be instantaneous. You just need to make that pivot early to match the speed of the guy bearing down on you.

The big thing playing D in this staying in front of a puck carrier. The moment his stick crosses your body, he loses possession. Even if you have your back to him.

Also, if you're 'stopping dead in your tracks', you're the one who's stopping, not the game. If your guy has momentum, you can make that pivot and not lose any of your speed.

Never heard the term "shift key animation".

The "stopping dead in your tracks" comment was about the other game where their new "skating engine" was faulty and patched after a few months iirc.

If you push multiple buttons simultaneously, you get different animations. Pushing in your right thumbstick and pressing your left bumper will allow your player to move laterally via the hipcheck animation. Any of the offensive skill moves like the lacrosse require you to use one of these button combos.

Unless, of course, you're using Total Control. If that's the case, you're putting yourself at a disadvantage against most WOC competition because you don't have enough control of your player vs skill stick.

IMO if you really want to get a handle of how you control your player, you should be running hours in free skate with the pass aim visuals turned on. Mess around with the different animations. Try scoring lacrosse goals, through the legs passes, manual saucers and flip dumps. Mess around with different builds and find the ones that you like the feel of.

If that "arcade" mode is what I think it is, I might have to bite with black Friday coming.

God that game was so fun for what was clearly a throwaway project for EA.

One thing about it. I played Arcade with my son who was under 10 at the time and we loved it together. To this day whenever we are together and see a small tender we both say in a deep voice... "Liiiitle goalie..."
