Then you must have Ovi ahead of Crosby or you’re not very consistent.
It’s really close. But I think I’d actually take Ovechkin. In that instance though you’re talking about two superstars. I don’t think that will be the case here.

Say what? Good Lord, Ovi was the biggest pouting baby is the league for the first 1/2 of his career. I used to just get wild watching him pout as soon as they got down, especially in the playoffs. To his credit he grew up.

Lemaire or Lafleur.

Yeah except that Caufield isn't even close to Guy Lafleur.

Get real.

Lafleur was Top 5 in goals Top 5 in assists year in year out with enormous charisma and clutchness.

And Lafleur was better than Lemaire. Now Suzuki is better than Caufield as of yet.

Let's wait and see first.

Suzuki’s hands are filthy, with and without the puck, he has sneaky good speed, his craftiness in body positioning is every bit as unique as Datsyuk’s was, his shot is real heavy and consistently well placed, his passing both to the stick and to the areas is exquisite, etc, and he is the 23 year-old captain of the Habs. To me this all adds up to NHL superstar. Suzuki stans like myself definitely do him a disservice when I reduce him to “extremely high IQ two-way C”.

Suzuki just because is a C and a two-way beast, but Cole Caufield is a amazing player for sure. Glad we have both, that's a fantastic duo. 🤩

Superstar winger over number one centre for sure. I like Suzuki a lot but CC is going to be the better player.

Not close in my opinion.

That's a weird take considering that this far in their respective careers there is zero indication that Caufield will be more of a superstar than Suzuki...

Superstar center >>>> superstar winger

That's pretty irrefutable by now one would think :dunno:

Love CC and he's gonna be (and has been) great for us and God willing I might see 50 goals one day

But Suzuki is a much better player, even Caufield himself knows it

Just f***ing awesome to have both, and on top of that they're best friends to boot

I think the term superstar is used way too loosely. There's maybe 5-10 superstars in the league. And a crap load of stars. Suzuki and Caufield are and will continue to be stars in this league. But your general point is valid

Neither will be superstars. Suzuki lacks the explosive skating and Caufield isn't very good at protecting the puck amongst other things. Lord knows we love them but to ignore their shortcomings won't do us much good. But you aren't wrong Suzuki just has more of the stuff you can't teach.

1 Center
2 Wingers
1 Defenseman
1 Goalie
----------------
= 6 players

ermmm... Take one, carry that over... Pretty sure that makes 5 players.

Cauli-field just recently played his 100th game. Let's see how good he will become when he's played 300 games. Pretty crazy that he's still 21 years old.

Still plenty of room for Cauli-field to grow his game and become the better player.

Gretchen stop trying to make Cauli-field happen. It's not going to happen.

Android or iOS
French fries or onion rings
Raise or bonus
Dog or cat
Crémeuse ou traditionnelle

Android. I've always distrusted Apple.
Onion Rings. With Honey-Mustard sauce always.
Bonus. That way it's like I'm saving up money.
Dog. I own a 4yr old Husky and a 2yr old Black Lab/Blue Heeler cross.
Cremeuse. Traditionnelle is too acid-y.

Suzuki only started piling up points when CC joined the line. Before that he paced for 60. I don’t see a superstar there. I see a number one center on a team that has been so starved for a number one they confuse it for a superstar. He’s not at that level and I don’t think he ever will be.

CC on the other hand has an other worldly pedigree. He’s pacing for close to fifty and he’s only 21. YES Suzuki deserves some credit for this but this kid is going to score no matter who is center if him as long as he’s got a non idiot coach.

40+ goals at 21. He’s exactly what we hoped for. He’ll be a 50 goal guy for years. A truly elite scorer and superstar. Book it my friend.

Not a valid assessment of Suzuki on several fronts.

"Deserves SOME credit"... That comment alone suggests starting from an opinion & framing causation accordingly.

Bottom line is that right now, Suzuki is outpacing Caufield point-wise & matching him in CCs biggest strength, goal scoring... While playing a more difficult position with greater responsibility.

Who will become the better overall impact player remains to be seen, of course. But as of today, zero basis to suggest CC is the better player, let alone that he's the driver of the duo's success.

I would expect Suzuki to outpace him. Suzuki is entering his prime. CC is going to be much better at 23 than he is now. And he’s already pacing for 40+ goals.

And in no way do I want to diminish Suzuki. I like him a lot. But I don’t see superstar there. I could absolutely be wrong on that but I think he’s going to be a legit top line center - not superstar.

As for his 60 points, he obviously was hampered by DD. But people keep saying he’s already a superstar… I don’t see it. He hasn’t proven this at all.

CC on the other hand has a lot of history behind him and - as he’s done his whole life - is now putting pucks in the net. There’s elite talent there.

Players progress.
Players with the work ethic & track record of both these kids are all but locks to improve, significantly, in their early 20's.

Your critiques aren't wrong, but assuming they aren't aware of them & won't make strides to improve them is, imo.

Is Marchand a superstar? What about at 22? Just one of many examples to look at.
