How did he play? I didn't see the game?
In a nutshell, he kept us in the game long enough for our offense to bust it open. One goal I would define as weak, but he made he made a couple of outstanding saves in the 2nd as well. The Hounds defense did a nice job of breaking up most of the odd man rushes.

You would think he got peppered in the first, but I don't have the slightest clue where they got 17 shots from. I rewatched the first period during intermission when I saw that total and still didn't come up with more than 10. I actually think he faced better quality chances in the 2nd, where he played very well. He didn't really face any scoring chances in the third, as the Hounds dominated puck possession.

I stuck around for an extra day after Thanksgiving down south to watch this game. Pretty empty barn so far, but I'm sure it will fill up at puck drop. I'll post a quick recap after the game.

A Spits fan described this year's Windsor team to me as having good size, but severely lacking in offensive skill.

From what I saw this period, he was bang on, Oliver Peer excepted. They had an awful lot of potential chances in tight that were snuffed out by Hounds defenders or shot wide. The best chance early came on the Greyhounds first shot and they had another great chance immediately after, which everyone around me agreed was mistakenly called offside.

Shots were 10-1 at this point and the Greyhounds found their legs a bit, with a few minutes of O-zone time. Travis Hayes scored a nice one and we seemed to let off the gas after that, playing our worst hockey of the period in the final 5 minutes, resulting in a goal and another lazy penalty.

Hopefully the Hounds can find some energy in the intermission.

Caedan Carlisle was the only guy that appeared to be truly engaged in the first. He makes a great defensive play to start the second, resulting in a Jack Beck goal, which could be a 2 goal swing. Those kinds of things don't show up on the scoresheet.

Boys looked good tonight, great match up. Very entertaining game to watch.

Thought Allard, Cloutier and Hayes(what a steal in 2nd) played very well with their speed. Beck is going to be a great veteran presence and a difference maker.

KK, Gibson and Karki are a nice top 3 to have. Carlisle a solid bottom pair guy who can play top 4 minutes. Still see too many errors from Toms for a 04 with yrs under his belt, hopefully they are overplaying him to shop him around. Virgillio seems stronger and more confident but still has some work to do in D zone, puck IQ is above average so he should get better.

Schenkel was solid for us and hopefully gains more confidence and stays healthy.

London will be a team to watch, they will only add more pcs and will somehow land players for a fraction of their worth....we need a few deals like that.

Very excited for our 07 Draft players with 2 absolute Franchise studs up front in Hayes and Martin and I believe Solomon will be a all around beauty on the back end, kind of wish he was here learning from the big 3 but I get it, he needs the icetime to continue to develope.

Can't wait to see this Soo team conti ue to gel and see where we end up, I think we have a legitimate shot to spoil Saginaws party in May.
London has not got the assets to add many pieces with only two, 2nds and three, 3rds plus they do not have a player drafted in the 1st round the last two drafts that they are willing to move. They may be able to make one big move or a couple of smaller ones with the assets they have. They have not been able to add players for a fraction of their worth for a number of years as star players are now willing to go to teams like Peterborough, North Bay, Hamilton and Sarnia not just London.

In the second we had a better start spearheaded by a couple of veteran defenders in Carlisle and Kudryavtsev. After taking the lead, Charlie Schenkel stopped Peer on 2 breakaway chances, for easily his biggest saves of the night. The Hounds seemed to really find their legs after that (4 games in 5.5 days) and dominated the rest of the period. That's continuing into the 3rd so far.

Teams have always been able to add those players ( Imports, FAs, later picks) before the teams you mentioned
Erie had a great run attracting top talent ( DeBrincat being an FA others wanted and more) Kitchener often did a great job recruiting, Spits as well. It's cyclical. It's not new for teams other than London to have a great run recruiting.

Geesh the Soo has stared on fire and crushing it offensively so far. Was this expected SSM fans?

Great to see "a local to us" player get the player of the week honours. Kid has worked hard and made a good choice to stay for his OA year, have a solid year and hopefully get paid to play somewhere next year. And add another year of edu package if he goes that route.

With Karki looking like a star to go along with a pair of top 5 defensemen already on the team, I don't think this start is particularly surprising. I think it’s the best blueline group in the league, with clearly the most top end talent and almost as much depth as London. I expect the division to go down to the wire with Saginaw because of that.

Can someone watching on TV explain these penalties to me? I'm baffled as to how Windsor came out with a PP after instigating the rough stuff.

My 3 stars:

1. Arthur Karki - He put on an offensive clinic once the second period started.

2. Jacob Maillet- He drove play for Windsor all game and seemingly always had possession in the offensive zone.

3. Jack Beck- Like Karki, he was dominant after the first period.

HM: Charlie Schenkel, Liam Greentree, Caeden Carlisle

Great start to the season!
I have a Bill Montague question. Does anyone know when he first started covering the Hounds? If you're not sure about the year, would it have been
before, after, or during the "Joe Thornton era"?

Forward Connor Clattenburg was eligible to return to the Greyhounds lineup for Monday’s game after sitting out the opening five games of the season due to a suspension that carried over from the last game of the 2022-23 regular season.

Dean said Clattenburg is currently nursing an injury and is out day-to-day at this point.
