Who cares as long as it isn't Toms, lol

I don't think that's the final move of the week...

While i'm happy the hounds found a place for him from our perspective, I'm also happy that he found a place to play where the fans shouldn't be extra hard on him. i've found unless you're a 1st rounder, the soo tends to eat their own. hoping he can flourish in Windsor without the hometown pressures coming with being a 3rd rounder.

The Soo
being a local and a 3rd round choice definitely added pressure. it's no fault of Toms though, it's the organizations fault that they saw something that perhaps wasn't there. it certainly didn't help that we chose not to select some other promising local kids in recent years. he definitely received more than his fair share of scrutiny.

In another world Connor Toms became a forward in year 1 and had a successful career...

have to be careful, lots of fans and managers look to draft a local kid for the good pr and 'feel good' elements, but are they the best player to take for the organization and on ice product?

i don't think it was that... i mean, we bypassed Jack Matier for Holmes (we all saw how that played out). the michigan teams and ottawa seem to draft more local kids than we do!

i know, im more talking generally. alot of fans want teams to draft a home town kid or trade for a hometown guy, when often hes not the best player or best option. often its probably best for everyone to just not do it
