It was about time to trade C. Toms. As a 19 year old he was definitely NOT an impact player and was taking ice time away from BMB and Spencer Evans. Hopefullly, these young d can rotate into the lineup and gain additional OHL experience. Don't forget we also have Solomon as a young promising d-man.

His development curve was very odd. Great first year with the Thunderbirds, and then great start with the greyhounds and every subsequent year his basic stats seemed to drop which was odd. Please remember I am making this comment purely as an outsider and am just looking at stats which do tell at least a part of the story.

If you want to contend, you don't automatically move a non impact 19 year old just because he is blocking the development if a young player. As a contender you play your best team.

When your youngsters show lots of promise however, and start making a case for more playing time, that's when moves need to be made.

Wish Toms well in Windsor.

Wish Toms well in Windsor but it was the right move and overdue. Evans and BMB need to play more to develope. Wonder if another veteran D is a target for a trade now, need some more grit back ther imo.

Checked in on Solomon and based on team record and stats he is doing well. He has 9 pts in 12 games and team is 10 wins and 2 losses. I called a friend who is a referee in the region and he has reffed several Siskins games and based on his views he said Solomon is one of the best defenseman in the league, so I am excited to see the steps he has taken, maybe he gets called up for a few games. My friend also said that Brady Smith is doing well and Jordan Charron is a young fast physical presence. Hounds of the future look promising.

I hope we add another veteran physical presence on back end and also another physical 2 way forward up front and obviously would be nice to add to our goaltending if possible.

Agree, Agree, Agree.

Here is my opinion, The Hounds were prepared to go all in this year anyway as the host team. Being snubbed the host caused a fire to burn inside the stomach of many within the organization and the mentality going into this season was the same as if we were hosts. The team has proven itself worthy and met the expectations of management and ownership and I believe the green light will be lit to go all in. I believe they will add all 3 pieces you mentioned. The future is looking bright as you've mentioned, so no reason not to.

Now let's go back to the conversation of " 2018 was a much better team to go all in with"...:)

The 2017/2018 squad so often talked about and glorified through the first 14 games had 9 wins, 2 losses, and 2 OTL. Of those 9 wins, 4 were in overtime. Good for 20 points.

The 2022/2023 squad through the first 14 games....9 wins 5 losses. 3 of those wins were in a shootout. Good for 18 points.

Pretty similar, eh? :thumbu:

whatever you say HFP lol. let's compare this years team and 2018's team this spring instead of in October. if they make at least the conference finals i'll endorse that comparison.

i don't "glorify" the 2018 team, they made the finals! they proved themselves with their results. if anybody has been "glorifiying" teams it's been yourself and Fischhaber. the two of you wanted to go "all in" several times since 2018 with teams that didn't even make it out of the 2nd round.

So, HFP, you are saying the Hounds are about to run off a string of 23 consecutive wins now?
24 hopefully @HockeyPops

Do not make me go back and get the receipts. The only thing you've clung onto is the 2018 team and how it was an obvious team to go all in with. People said they'd be the judge first 20 games. I guess I'm a bit premature on the 20 but thus far the start is VERYA SIMILAR.

I'm just simply comparing. You're not the only one who's allowed to run around throwing dirt in people's faces when they're wrong.

You seem awfully combative with posters on here, it's confusing, its just OHL hockey.

Fair enough, I just am surprised how emotional some get over an amateur hockey team, treat people a certain way, etc. Maybe im getting soft in my old age.

Or maybe you're not following the entire story. I make a outburst once or twice, and I'm combating some absolutely ridiculous comments of people that are holding on to 5 year grudges over a loss in the finals and constant attacking of our general manager and coaching staff and scouting staff.

But as @HockeyPops said I'm a fanatic, I pay attention to junior hockey and OHL more than any other sport. Soo Greyhounds are my favorite sporting team.

During the Off-season I spent the entire time telling everyone we'd be a better team while constantly being slammed for "wearing rose tinted glasses"

I do get your point though @AttackBeacher

I guess the other thing is that @DWI Dale know each other... so our bickering back and forth isn't as serious as some may see it as haha.

I don't think any of us ever disputed that we would be a better team (hard to be worse), if so I'd like to see those receipts.

But the question at hand was how much better? Contender or pretender?

THIS for sure. We go at each other pretty hard because we respect each other and don't take it too personal. We're simultaneously busting each others balls on facebook messenger etc...

He's also one of the first people I'd want to have a celebratory beer with if we won a cup.

I'm just reading here, I'm not that involved. I see the 'outburst' more than once or twice, but I don't really care either way.

Personally, I would wait a bit before saying any team is better or worse than projected. Last year the Attack where a top team in the West into mid November before falling hard, it happens all the time.

I'd be hesitant to compare this year's team to 2018 or 2015. Those two teams were two of the best junior teams I've ever seen and I've been watching this league religiously since 1996/97 season.

If either of those teams had the tender from the year after we would have had 2 cups.

Same battle we are fighting this year. A tender who may not be ready, although this years team is not nearly as strong as either of those teams. Yet.

Again, my opinion only.

Does anyone think we might need help on the faceoff dot? Our top 2 centers are doing fine there, but after that? Martin's early number are promising but the sample size is small. And we are one injury away from having to rely on someone down near 40%

I suppose it wouldn't hurt but I wouldn't say adding a centreman is a priority over other needs
