The Soo
When you have huge breakdowns like we did last night, plus/minus often doesn't place the appropriate blame.
I get it. +/- is more of a team stat. Probably the worst stat. Just interesting to see who was on the ice when goals are scored and who despite kicking in any offense might have still had a net positive when they are on the ice.

hasn't London picked them clean yet?

Look at our team +/- and see who is our best and worst plus minus players by that Stat. Generally it confirms who people believe are our better and weaker performers to date.

- Virgilio with a huge gaff on the first goal
- Hayes manhandled entering the offensive zone, resulting in odd man rush on goal 2
- Third goal poor coverage on defensive zone faceoff. I don't even know whose man it was left open in the slot. Gibson?
- Fourth goal Kostov not aware at all of the threat weak side

We would need to do a heck of a job to be able to afford all those pieces.

From my recollection, the 2nd goal was a result of an ill-advised attempt by Toms to keep the puck in at the offensive blue line, and the 4th(?) goal was a result of Toms wandering to the other side of the crease and leaving his man unattended. That’s what I saw, and I acknowledge others will have perceived those plays differently. Maybe saying as “a result” is too strong but I feel these these plays were contributing factors at least.

I think it’s time to see Evans or BrodyMB in the lineup every now and then.

To me it's obvious they're trying to increase his value. He doesn't deserve to be playing over Evans, or BMB

BIG GAME TONIGHT!!

Highly unlikely BMB would return as an OA.
Being an Nhl draft pick , most expected place will be A.H.L.
Would Saginaw accept :
bryce McConnel Barker
Brodie McConnel Barker
Caiden Carlisle
for :
Calem Mangone
zane parekh
No. Parekh is good now for a team that if anything, should add top talent to D not take away.

Not yet.
Niagara is significantly better for adding Federkow, Levin, Humphrey, Paris for 2, 3, 3, 5 picks and their #6 LW currently playing in another league.

I said T-4 defense, but really meant T-5. Right now if we have an injury in our T-2 defense, Gibson is quite capable of stepping up and filling that slot. But the same cannot be said for our second pair. We need a 5th defenseman capable of sliding into the second pair in the event of an injury. We do not have that currently. IMO.
I could get behind that, but not yet. I think even if it's an 'all in' year, which I am not convinced of yet, it would benefit us to give more time to our young defensemen. If it's still an issue at the deadline and we are a serious contender then that kind of move makes more sense.

It's time to play Evans over Toms no matter what direction. Evans looked like a vet out there. Some kids just have the jam and some don't.

Good defensive effort for the hounds in the third and OT. Stayed above the puck a battled hard. Were unlucky not to close it out with an unfortunate bounce right to Misa with 5 seconds left.

Offensively something is still missing for this team. BMB is playing with 0 confidence, soft on pucks, etc. Maybe if he finds his game it's the offensive catalyst this team needs. But right now they are just not generating quite enough quality chances offensively even with all the possession and shots.

Pops, they held Saginaw at bay most of the night. Then played russian roulette one time too many with the icings at the end of the game., giving too many man advantage faceoffs in their defensive zone.

Ya overall I thought the Hounds were the better team and I thought that was one of our best defensive games of the year despite the score. Charlie made at least 3 game saving saves.

I felt like Saginaw was stuck to perimeter for a lot of the game.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if a move is made soon..

I didn't mind the icings. I remember both BMB and Karki icing it, but both had good chances at the empty net, and both were with fresh legs still on the ice.

nice to see a pair of OT wins. these extra points against divisional rivals are huge in the spring.

Have we lost one yet? Its great to see

This is a complete 360 compared to last season, in my opinion.

Edit: 180, not 360 :laugh::laugh:

Complete 180....360 would be the same direction haha.

In all seriousness, I agree. Last year when we hit OT I was always expecting a loss. Big difference this year.

360 in the first period. 180 for the reason. lmao. My bad hahahahahahaha
