It's nothing new in life. People who see folks younger than them doing much more successful things in life than they are brings out the most rabid insecurity to the point where they blindly **** on everything they do and take every opportunity to chop them down.

The fact you think it’s his age that folks are upset with is kinda sad.

Especially when they want to let a 56 year old coach go in favour of a 39 year old rookie replacement.

See son, facts do matter.

It's clearly personal with a lot of these people. I think at the base level it's seeing a younger person in charge that rubs them the wrong way.

Extremely talented players the Leafs have invested a great deal in are stagnating or even regressing under Babcock, instead of developing. He clearly doesn't have their ear any longer, if ever he did. It's a matter of time at this point.
No one cares about his age(well I guess some probably do), they worry that he's going to mess up what was looking like a great thing.
He's not off to a great start but if the Team ends up being successful no one will care how old he is.

Myself, I didn't want a rookie GM no matter what age.

Let's not turn this into an off-topic "younger fans" vs. "older fans" critique. Using words like kid, boomer, etc. is little better than using words of racial prejudice. All coaches, GMs and players eventually reach their shelf life.

lol giving credit to mark hunter. what the hell did he do other than draft Marner and Matthews( any person could have done this). Saying that mark hunter had more impact on this franchise than Dubas is just stupid.
Amazing mark hunter still hasn't got nhl GM job since he left because leafs hurt his feelings lol

This regime needs to get broomed. Good luck attracting any free agents! What a culture!!!

I agree unless spezza is hurt show 1 of the 4th line the door
Babcock can be hate able
We all had coaches who thought the players owed him their lives
Babcock is disrespecting another veteran ,
Spezza out plays Mathews and gets benched
Barber gonna lose the fee allies he has left in hockey

Babcock is not the one that has to go. It's Dubas that has to go. In the two years or close to
it dubas has this team going in the wrong direction. Trading and drafting all these small players
is not going to help them win a Stanley cup. If you look at the champs the St. Louis blues they defence is all over
6'2. This team is to soft. Has no toughness or sand paper on it.
Brenden has made a mistake hiring Dubas. And this is not the type of team that he likes. And this money ball thing
is bullshit. This job should have what to Hunter he was the better person for the job.

babcocks biggest problem is his hatred for putting a center on the PK.

You have Gauthier and Shore for a reason. Because if those guys arent putting in work on the PK, then whats the point of having them on the team?

Even good face-off guys are losing 4 or 5 out of 10 face-offs. Babcock would rather have Marner out there, even if it means he loses an extra face-off now and then.

I think that it's incredibly stupid having Marner taking F/O on the PK when he can't win any.

He wins 30%. On 10 face-offs, that ends up being 2 or 3 more losses than a good face-off guy. Seems than Babcock would rather have you rather have Marner on the ice for 2 extra losses instead of Gauthier.

I am not even advocating for him taking face-offs, but I think we should at least have an honest discussion

Wrong.
Babcock hasn't won a playoff round in a decade. Dubas has done a great job here. Dubas traded for Muzzin, and signed prospects like Marchment. If Hunter is so good, why hasn't another NHL team hired him yet?

True, but which season do you think he should have won? Last year was winable, but Boston was the second best team in the league and was definitely better than Toronto.

I know Dale is happy in London, and has turned down NHL jobs. Perhaps Mark is the same.

No need you proved my point already.;)

Are we better off with Marner out for a couple extra losses? The alternative is Freddy Gauthier.

I’m not sure it’s really as clear-cut as you seem to think.

the problem with marner is that he needs Hyman back on that line. That is all. Only then will he be able to focus on getting Tavares the puck while Hyman digs the puck

Hunter, as in the guy who raved about how much character the Marner family had?

I’m watching Barrie, a player that was once one of the most dynamic defensemen in the NHL, who now just looks flat out bad and seems to be getting worse.

I mean, he’s never been great defensively and that was expected, but he seems to have regressed in every area under Babcock.

I honestly don’t think our defense is bad individually, but there’s clearly a problem with the system or coaching that is inhibiting this group from being successful.

We had to grind out a win with LA Kings...

With 2 1Cs. 4 wingers who can skate and shoot. And a bottom 6 punching wayyy above its weight class.

And babs is happy

Our stretch-pass breakouts are garbage and have been for years. The center should be supporting our defence and the wingers shouldn't be trying to sneak behind the opposing D for hail mary passes. Don't expect any tactical adjustments though, the whole league has caught onto our PP and designated a high forechecker to disrupt our NZ drop-pass and only impromptu player adjustments have been made to avoid it. We've also completely abandoned the hole man on the PP, so I don't know why we continue to use this setup. Previously, Barrie and Muzzin were miscommunicating and double-rotating onto the same guy, but they haven't done that quite as much the past few games, so hopefully better dzone work ahead.

On the plus side, we should only have to endure 66-73 more games of this pond hockey and Boudreau is in the last year of his contract. So, there will likely be an excellent player's coach available when Michael receives his pink slip.

If the Leafs can't improve the PP, PK, and win two rounds in the playoffs...I don't see how Babcock returns.
