Matthews deserved to be fired into the sun, after Nylander got demoted that line still gave up 2 point blank uncontested shots in the slot in the final 5 minutes of regulation

I couldn't believe how badly that line was defending

Well it is either the coach or the players... simplest strategy is to get rid of the coach first, if that don't work, next is the players.

Sure lets ignore that he backup goalie isa piece of shit, and the fact we are missing a top 2 center, top 4D and a top 9 winger because that is onthe coach.

The reality is is it is a combo of healthy and Dubas being Lazy in terms of getting a backup goalie.

Babcock can't fix the health issues or the backup goalie issues.

That requires time and Dubas making an effort

The reason Nylander was demoted that game is that he has been incredibly soft and inconsistent for a while. Im not a Willie hater either as he also had a great stretch of games this year as well but I understood the message. Marner has been inconsistent as well but less so and is on a good points pace. Ceci has been one of the better dmen for us this year and gets no love when he has great games but we should have demoted him as hes carrying extra load with Muzzin out? Your criticizing the coaching? Probably best to step away from your crusade for a bit. Its gonna lead you down the wrong path eventually as goaltending improves.....

Since Jan. 1st, team save %:

90.21% (20th in the NHL)
5v5: 91.44% (24th in the NHL)

Previous year and a half save %:

91.62%(3rd in the NHL)
5v5: 92.87% (4th in the NHL)

Hope this helps you realize the reason the team has been .500 for a while now. Many other teams fare far worse with that big a drop in as major area. Luckily, the team D has improved somewhat (I still love the Muzzin pickup) and underlying defensive numbers look noticeably better this year than previous years.

Imo the awful play we have been seeing is 95% the players fault. Sure Babcock could be better. Who couldn't be.

These players are paid, some might say overpaid, to play hockey and put in an effort. We have not seen that. Especially from our most expensive players.

But, getting a new coach would, hopefully, open some of the koolaid drinkers eyes around here. This is a team issue.

I was always against firing mike, but I'm so sick and tired of seeing posters blame everything from Willie's poor play to the bad weather on Babcock.

When we do get a new coach, I'm sure we will have these same posters turning on him. It's always "what excuse can I use today" around here.

1. Breakout structure
2. Defensive structure
3. Powerplay setup
Lacking in these areas for the past 3 years - with 100% Roster turnover.

Our Nemesis Bruins literally have ALL the above. We almost beat them on Talent alone cause for sure as hell it wasnt our PP or systems. Coach where are you?

Anyone familar with MMA?
A decent kickboxer rises thru the ranks with a good coach. Adapting to his opponents strengths and weaknesses. But suddenly this kickboxer faces a wrestler.

The coach only knows kickboxing, and his methods never work and as much as he tries to prepare his fighter for wrestling he CANNOT. He is not an expert.

This fighter MUST get a new coach to prepare him for fighting on the ground on his back.
Or he will never advance.

I honestly feel this is the analogy of the Leafs with Babcock. He is still preaching GudPro lessons while by this time he should already know how to utilize his TOP 6 REGARDLESS if a player is lazy or not. *eg. Kessel to Pens*

We are that kickboxer yelling - Teach me how to wrestle and fight on my back!! Cause I already know how to punch and kick!!

And Babcock still preaching "must work harder" while you can see our talented players forced to play chip and dump hockey.
They want a system. A real one.

The tuneout is huge on the Leafs cause of this.
